Barack Obama and Michelle Obama Paper Dolls

The 2008 election race is over! In some ways, it was business as usual. But in other ways, things were entirely different. Although we've had women candidates before, we've never had a vice presidential candidate with an infant and a pregnant teenage daughter. And we've certainly never had an African American candidate, as we have in Barack Obama. I say good for America! It's about time we opened up to the fact that the United States doesn't necessarily have to be run exclusively by white men. (Just so you know, I'm caucasion. I don't have a racial axe to grind because of my own background. I just happen to believe fair is fair. Let the best person win.)

The images of Barak Obama and Michelle Obama below come from Dover Publications and are actually part of a larger set of presidential candidate paper dolls in books that include costumes. Those obviously have to be purchased, but the basic doll figures are available here. If you're not inclined to play with paper dolls, these also make great clip art. I'm sure crafters could think of some interesting things to do with them!
