Is A. Barry Rand Selling Out AARP Members In Favor of His Black Community Roots and Personal Inclusion Agenda?

Let there be no doubt, A. Barry Rand is a self made man who should be proud of his many accomplishments in life. He also is a man with what some would call a race based agenda.  His entire career seems to have focused on efforts aimed at inclusion for minorities.  He was raised in a segregated America, his ideology shaped during the early days of the civil rights movement...which has to beg the question, is his own agenda clouding his ability to make decisions that are in the BEST INTERESTS of AARP's members?

Barry Rand's entire career has focused on INCLUSION, providing minorities with a chance at the proverbial brass ring as it were.  This is a noble goal, a noble cause, but has he carried that Black Community goal with him to AARP, and in doing so lost track of what AARP's core goals and positions should be?  This would explain AARP's odd blanket support of Barack Obama's socialist health care plan, would explain AARP's joining forces with Nancy Pelosi to sell the concept of Universal Health Care to the American public during the Congressional August recess.

When Rand came on board, AARP said about him in a press release,  Rand is “a catalyst for social change and inclusion in the workplace.”

There is no problem with Rand being a catalyst for social change and inclusion in the AARP work place, and in fact I would support his efforts toward that goal.  However, when he sells out our membership, embraces a Baby Boomer genocide in the name of inclusion in the Health Care System, I have a problem with that.  AARP's mandate is taking care of, and lobbying for those of us who have started on that end life path known as the Golden Years, its goal is not righting the social wrongs he perceives to exist as a Black Man who grew up in a segregated America all those years ago.

Perhaps Barry Rand, Howard University (a historically Black College) board chairman, the man who has spent his entire life fighting for inclusion needs to take a few weeks off to study his own motives in taking over the helm of AARP, needs to look at his agenda for the organization, and decide if that agenda has been shaped and altered to fit his own desires and motives of inclusion, or is the agenda that AARP's membership wants it to be....my quess, is that being honest, Barry Rand will admit he is the wrong person for this job, and should resign effective immediately so that someone can take the helm that will protect the rights of those of us who are over fifty, rather than carrying out a wrong sighted personal inclusion agenda at the wrong time in history for AARP, and 75 million Baby Boomers.

Barry Rand needs to convince his AARP membership that he will fight to maintain the member's doctor-primary care relationship. We strongly object to an independent body having the final say regarding our medical treatment.

He knows full well that older Americans will be denied the medical care they need if an outside body decides their fate!

Speak out on this issue, Barry B

Barry B is too busy pushing his Black Community inclusion agenda to worry about any of us over 50, that is unless we happen to be people of color.

I don"t think AARP is representing the mjaority of its members, WE DO NOT WANT government run health care and that is the bill that is in the house right now. Tell Barry Rand and Jennie Chin Hansen and the rest of the officers of AARP to listen to us , their members, We want health care reform but not the one out there now.....

Hey Berry how much were you paid to sell us out? I have been a member for many years but no longer. A friend of mine was in Vegas and she said she talked to you and today she was shocked that you sold us out.

I wonder what position Barak Obama will give you for selling us out. I will bet you are a far left wing liberal and soon to be on Barak’s payroll.

If the AARP really cared about health care reform for its membership, it would have long ago established an option for its membership to option into a group to purchase insurance (as companies do for their employees), rather than endorse individual insurance policies. That would be a huge number to negotiate premiums down. And the Insurance Companies would have to raise the premiums on all to raise them on one. We've paid our last membership dues to the AARP.
