Baseball's Perfect Games
71Major league baseball made another notch in history just recently.
Mark Buehrle pitched a perfect game; a feat that has been accomplished only 18 times in the 134 years of major league baseball.
In my opinion, in all of American sports; this is the hardest thing to accomplish for a baseball team.
A perfect game by definition is a 9+ inning game with no players from the opposing team reaching any base. There can be no walks, no hits, and no errors.
This hub is to honor those 18 pitchers throughout history who have completed this difficult task.
I will start with the first and end with the one that happened just recently.
Hats off to all of these players!

Very informative hub. It saddens me that my own Minnesota Twins were no-hit twice. I remember after David Wells no-hit the Twins, he wrote a book reporting that he was drunk when he pitched the no-hitter. If I were to venture a guess as to who will have the next no-hitter I would say, Johan Santana.
Those poor Twins--I used to go to St Paul in my young days to see greats like Harmon Killebrew and others.
Santana is very good, never know--some of these young pitchers are showing great stuff too!
Yeah I cant wait to see Stephen Strasburgs debut for the Nats. That kid has quite the resume already.
very interesting hub. It takes you back to those days when the game was played in black and white. :-)
Froggy, great article. I would agree with you that it is the hardest thing to do for a baseball team.
Anyways, have you heard of Harvey Haddix? He threw a perfect game for 12 innings and got the loss.
Here take a look: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/boxscore/05261959.
Good to see some baseball fans on Hubpages; I've been looking for some.
Thanks jbgunn, I love baseball. Thanks for the link my friend.
I would have to agree, Harvey pitched the greatest game in history!
Gee, and our Chicago Cubs have trouble just pitching, much less pitching a perfect game! A perfect game for Cubs fans is when they somehow overcome the odds and win.
And next year, the World Series! (will be played somewhere else)
Cheers!
The die-hard Cubs fan...
