Crown and Bridges
- Don’t forget to clean crowns and bridges the same way you clean your teeth.
- Floss should be used to clean under the bridges daily to make sure they’re plaque-free
Braces
To alleviate discomfort:
- Avoid sugary foods since it is difficult to clean teeth afterwards.
- Chop up food into smaller pieces
- Place dental wax on wires or brackets that cut into cheeks or lips
- See you dentist for check-ups and cleaning regularly.
Dental Fillings
Amalgam and white cement:
- Don’t bite on the side where the filling was places for at least 24 hours, especially if they involve the sides of the teeth.
- Don’t bite in the filling if it feels too high.
- Return to your dentist immediately to adjust high spots, if any.
Tooth Extractions
To stop bleeding, bite on any folded sterile gauze or clean tissue paper for at least 5 minutes.
To prevent from bleeding again, for the next 8 hours:
- Avoid vigorous exercise, drinking hot water and alcoholic beverages.
- Don’t dislodge or pick at the blood clot forming on the wound.
- Don’t rinse vigorously in the area.
To prevent infection, the next day gargle a warm salt or chlorhexidine mouthwash twice a day.
Eat only what y u can manage using the teeth on the other side or take soft food.
Take painkillers only if necessary.
Take antibiotics if prescribed.
See you Dentists after 5 days
Remember that decayed teeth are only extracted as a last resort if cannot be saved by other dental procedures.
