Bass guitar tablature is a system that guides bass guitar player to play certain scales, so the bassist know how to play and extend his knowledge of another unique scales he has never known before. tablatures contains of diagram of strings with points as fingers position by number corresponding to the appropriate frets and sometimes with the numerical representations of fingers. mainly, the tablatures of bass guitar and guitar is similar in way to read it, it's difference only in the numbers of strings.

tablatures will help any musician exploring his knowledge of musical notations, otherwise beginner musician will find it difficult since there are too much types of notation and it's hard to remember it all, or even you do remember but you cannot be able to apply the whole scales in every music you play.

For beginner, it's suggested firstly to master only the common scales like basic harmonization and penthatonic. from this point, you will characterize your own style and know exactly which genre you are belonged. For instance, if you like to hear and play arabic music so open your tablatures and find for arabic scale and learn it, and if you like jewish music so learn jewish tablatures.

Nowadays tablatures, guitar tabs in particular, have vertical lines which represent the strings of the guitar (no matter what kind of guitar it is) horizontal lines for the frets, and dots signifying the position of the figures. In the case of a bass guitar there will only be four horizontal lines signifying the four strings of the bass guitar. A bass guitar can never be played with a spectrum (an object used to strum the strings of the guitar). Instead, it is played with figures just by plucking. Therefore, a bass guitar tablature is different from those of the rhythm or the classical guitars.
