The History of Bath Salt

Knowing bath salt's history is essential since salt has been a common commodity for a long time. But how did it all started?

It all started with the publishing of the PENG-TZAO-KAN-MU in China around 2,700 B.C. A large portion of it was devoted to the different kinds of salts, methods of extracting it and making salt usable. Salt were used in treating infections.

During the time of Hippocrates, he personally encouraged his fellow healers to use sea water in submerging their patients who have muscle pains. Hippocrates also detailed the benefits of curing many ailments using sea water. The Romans used baths as a way of socializing, so as the Japanese where hot spring were the common place among people in the community.

In 1753 A.D., a physician named Charles Russel made “The Uses of Sea Water”. It made points on the different therapeutic properties of sea water. When people heard of this, they suddenly began flocking to the coasts.

The following decades, scientists focused on further research and studies on sea water's benefits to many ailments. Thalassotherapy uses sea water to improve health, beauty and overall well-being.
