The Batman LEGO Theme

The LEGO Group has been consistently putting out great building block toys since the 1940's.  This longevity, and a commitment to quality by the LEGO Group, has helped make LEGO a standard in homes across the world.  This has also helped the LEGO Group have one of the most loyal fan bases of any toy maker.

LEGO has created many different LEGO sets based on themes.  More often LEGO would create a theme from the ground up but more recently LEGO has been licensing themes (i.e., Star Wars, Harry Potter.)  One of the more popular of these LEGO themes is the Batman series of LEGO sets.  Batman is arguably the most popular comic hero ever.  Batman was first presented to the world in 1939 and is a global icon so a transition to a LEGO theme only made sense.

Batman LEGOs caught on very quickly in the LEGO community but what was most impressive was the amount on non-LEGO fans that bought them.  Batman fans who had never purchased a LEGO set before were now enjoying LEGOs and building sets.  This crossover in fans helps both LEGO and Batman.

The Batman theme of LEGO sets has produced a few highly sought after Batman LEGOs.  For instance the Batman Arkham Asylum LEGO Set is one of the more rare LEGO sets out there and can be expensive to buy when found.  This set is a treat to Batman LEGO fans as it contains quite a minifigures, three buildings and three LEGO vehicles.  The premise of the Arkham Asylum is also very fun as it depicts the Riddler breaking out of the Asylum and making a run for it!

Many Batman LEGO themes are no longer available for purchase through the LEGO Group.
