Review of Battle Field Heroes
This is a Review of Battle Field Heroes, Its free to play, I Strongly Reccommend Reading!
Battle Field Heroes Is on online-only FPS (first person shooter game). It’s free to play, but right now it’s a closed beta so you will need a beta key to play. It’s free to play online so you don’t need a CD to play it or anything, but you will need to download some mandatory game files before you can play. These add up to about 50mb so it’s not too demanding.
For comprehension purposes, let me tell you a little bit more about the game. It’s set in WWII time frame, and features two sides pitted against each other. The first side is the Allies (Good guys); this team includes countries like the US (of course), Britain, and Australia. The other side is the bad guys. You get the impression that this side is supposed to be the Nazi’s or some force that should be conquered, but of course the game does not show any affiliation to such groups, they are simply “the bad guys”. The game has very interesting graphics, and looks almost like a cartoon, which makes it less graphically demanding so it can run on your computer.
In the game there are three different character classes. The first is a Commando. Commandos can only use a sniper rifle and a knife to start out with, and have the ability to turn invisible. Since they are given less HP, this is the more stealthy approach. The second class is the Gunner. The Gunner has the most HP out of all the three classes but moves considerable slower. The Gunner class features a heavy machine gun, and a shotgun to start out with. The final class is the Soldier. Soldiers have a light machine gun, average HP, and a shotgun. They also have the ability to heal themselves and teammates, so this is the more balanced of all the classes.
There is also a cool system of points to upgrade your character. As you play you earn Valor Points and Combat Points which can be spent to unlock new gear and new skills for your character. About every other time you level up, (every even level) you will obtain a combat point. These go to increasing new skills. The new skills vary by class, and are different for each character. So for the Commando for instance, you can increase the time he can remain invisible, increase gun damage, or learn a new skill. For the Gunner you can learn a skill which increases defense by a substantial amount for a brief time, or another skill which allows you to do extra damage.
The Valor Points are earned just by playing the game. After only a few hours you will notice that you have earned quite a few. These are spent on clothes and weapons. The weapons you can buy again vary by class, and usually increase firepower or firing speed in a tradeoff. The Clothes allow you to customize your character and make him look different, although the options are limited. The clothes and weapons that you buy only last for a little while though, so you will need to keep playing to earn more Valor points (You can choose to buy them for 7 days or 1 month).
The Catch is that if you want really cool customizations for your character, you have to buy them. Prices for these items vary, but again they only last a short time. This is completely optional though and you can more than enjoy the game without spending any money!
About the Game
The Good:
The graphics look nice and the game play is really smooth.
Many different customization options
Game is free and can be played on any computer
The Bad:
It’s sort of a pain going through the process of getting a Beta key
Sometimes the teams can be fairly uneven,
You can only create 4 characters, and cant delete them
If you’re interested in playing in the Beta:
Go to the Battle Field Heroes website. Click sign up for the beta (You might have to sign up for an EA account during the process). Then in a week or so they will send you a beta key. Follow the instructions carefully in the email, and you should be good to play!

Although this game is very fun, once in a while you will find someone cheating. Just ask them politely to stop, and remove the mods. Its easy to just re-download the program.
Lately, cheating has become a large problem in BFH. The Game administrators use Punk Buster to get rid of those modders and cheaters who tamper with the game. Often times however, they rely on players to catch cheaters. If you see someone cheating, (Killing you from far away when you are invisible, insanely high number of deaths, etc) You can take a screenshot, or capture video to catch them. Send it to the BFH website, and help stop cheating!
