Battle of the Drink Crystals - Kool-Aid, Nestea and Crystal Light
65With so many people turning away from soda but not always wanting to just drink water all the time, companies have come up with ways to make it convenient to "flavor" our water. Kool-Aid, Crystal Light and Nestea are just three brands who have entered this race by offering customers individual packets that can be added to a simple glass of water or a water bottle. It's practical because if you are on the run, like many of us are, it's quick and easy to just grab a bottle of water, pour the packet in, shake and enjoy. It's great for single people too who may not want to make a full pitcher of the drink.
But do they taste good?
Comparing Kool-Aid, Crystal Light and Nestea
Here's the truth - when I make Kool-Aid or iced tea, I probably add wayyyy too much sugar so it's not always easy to please someone like me.
With that in mind, I've got to say that not all flavors of Kool-Aid Singles are created equal. The cherry flavor is the best one to me in terms of quality and sweetness. The grape is the worst and the others fall someone in between.
The Nestea packets are actually pretty gross to me. I know there are people who must like them because they continue to exist but I don't find they stay true to the original flavor. Maybe it's because I am comparing the canned version to the powder.
Crystal Light packets are decent. With the fewest calories and good flavor, it is hard to beat these. My personal favorite is the Raspberry Ice. I'm not a fan, usually, of raspberry flavored things but I like these a lot!
Bottom line: try them all. I think that this is one of those things that really depends on the taste of the individual.

I love the singles because they're easy to make. It's amazing to that they can have the same taste without the added sugar.
