Battling Depression
71Battling Depression
When battling depression, you may have the feeling that you are alone and your life feels worthless. In fact, you are not alone. Many people have this disease at one time or other in their lives. Some people battle depression daily, while others simply get through the disease to lead a happy and fulfilling life.
If you feel that you are depressed, it is essential that you talk to someone. You must get help as this can be a very serious and crippling disease. You are losing out on the enjoyment that life can lead. Speak to your medical doctor and they will either help you themselves or put you in touch with another professional who is experienced in dealing with and curing depression. It can be fixed. You may have a chemical imbalance that needs correcting. Proper nutrition and care can go a long way in correcting the problem. It is worth the effort it may take for you to make an appointment with a medical professional. YOU are worth it. No matter what is getting you down, know that there are people who care for you. There are people who love you. People who want you to enjoy life and get better. If you have children, do it for them. They need you to be 100% there for them. You are their parent. You are their guardian. They look up to you. They NEED you.
Feeling alone is very common when battling depression. Know that there are recovery groups where you can talk about your feelings openly and without fear of contradiction. You can speak your mind among others who have and are going through the same issues as you. Just getting out and talking about it can help you.
Another thing that may help you in your battle of depression is to find a new hobby and take a class. Pottery, photography, something creative which will help you get your mind off your depression and into something that can lead to a very fulfilling and rewarding life. Something which will challenge you and also reward you.
There may actually be more people suffering from depression than we are all aware of . A lot of people keep their feelings bottled up inside. For those of us who may not have ever battled depression, we should know that depression is close to home whether we realize it or not. You may never know that the co-worker you share a cubicle with is actually battling depression. It is therefore important for us all to talk to people, show them kindness, empathize and basically be nice. There is a Bible verse that we should all do well to remember. It goes something like this, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares," and is found in the Book of Hebrews chapter 13 and verse 2. We should treat others as we wish to be treated. Perhaps just being there for someone will help. Being a friend to them. Encouraging and supporting them.
Again, if you are battling depression, know that you can get help. You are not responsible. This is a disease. You did nothing to cause it. And, most importantly, it can be fixed and cured!

I really liked your article. My father has suffered from Bipolar for most of his life, and my brother and I have major depression. I really believe in the importance of getting treatment. I hate anti-depressant drugs, but my father needs them to stay on top of things. My depression is much milder so I try to cope with it through positive thinking, just as you explained in your article. I found a couple of treatments that have helped so many people that I thought you may be interested in knowing about. You can read about it on a website called:
www.howto-dealwithdepression.com This website has an article about the 3 main treatments for depression. I enjoyed the concise practical information I found on that site and it has now motivated me to help others with this information.
I must say though, that by looking at what you wrote in this article, you know a lot about depression. Thank you for contributing such an excellent article. I know for sure that many people will appreciate the accurate information!

My name is Hayllee and i have battled depression for 8 years, i don't no how it came, all the people that i have read about have had some experience that made them feel like that. I dont no what to do anymore, everyday seems like a chore and the amount of times that i have told my mother that "i cant go on" is overwelming. My mother only knew at about april this year and i found out officially on my 17th birthday. Every doctor and nurse i have talked to says that there is a reason i feel like this, its making me feel worse just thinking about it. Can you help me help myself?
