Battling with AH1N1

take any chances by wearing face mask and apply some sanitizer. Some people are also just making jokes out of this illness which I know they will regret if they will be the target of this virus already.

Just this past July 11, 2009 Saturday. I noticed I had dry cough. And in the afternoon about 5 pm on my way home I walk past through the pouring rain. When I was already home my mother was worried about me already. The following day July 12 I was just coughing. Then on Monday morning I woke up early already to prepare for work. As I went to the bathroom I noticed that my body doesn't like the cold sensation of water and so I have taken a warm bath then followed with just tap water.

As I arrived in the school where I'm working I headed right away to the school clinic since my reporting time was still 8:00 am and that was still

positive for AH1N1. 2 were admitted to the hospital. The other 2 AH1N1 positive were told to just self quarantine with a Tammy flu medication (if I am right with the spelling).

While I was at the clinic I felt strange like I don't know what to do. Will I still be in school ignoring how I felt or well I just go home. But I have decided to just to home since I knew blame on me because I told her that I did not protect myself by wearing a, mask when I already knew that those students were already having cough and fever. I felt guilty about it. I knew that if I had only taken extra precaution It might be that I have not gotten the flu. Whether it was just a seasonal flu that was caused by the rain due to climate change or am I really an AH1N1 afflicted.

After 2 days of having high fever that reaches 40 centigrade. On Wednesday my fever slowed down already. I just took some vitamin C, boiled ginger, and took some vegetables and fruits and drink more water.

On Thursday I had slight fever again and so I asked my mother that we go to the assigned hospital for AH1N1 virus. The nurse took my fever and it was at 38 centigrade ( The young nurse is a graduate of our school) . So she gave me paracetamol to lower my fever. A little while the doctor did look after me she just check my tonsil if it was inflamed and took some interview. But I was disappointed because they did not priority and if I insist I would pay a very big amount like 4 thousand. Though I kept pleading our school nurse that our school physician will recommend me for a free throat swab still I did not got my request. Maybe they prioritized the students so they can go back school soon, or day. I was hesitant to take my medication since I am afraid the I would be allergic to it. But what can I do since my cough would not stop and so I took my first day of antibiotic. Thanks God I was not allergic to it.

Today was my second day of antibiotic but I'm still observing my body if no allergies will come out. Also Just this morning our school nurse follow up my condition making a phone call. I told her that I don't have fever anymore. Though I'm still on my second day of antibiotic. She told me that I can go back to work on Monday hopefully without fever and of course with a double mask protection already.

My experienced with AH1N1 flu though I did not have confirmation that I am AH1N1 positive knowing that I was in closed contact with the 4 students who were AH1N1 positive and I was exposed to them with out any protective mask I need to self quarantine myself. AH1N1 has thought me a lesson and to always practice these some precautionary measures:

  • That AH1N1 flu virus should not be taken as a joke just like the students who where with me.

  • That you should not be hesitant to use face mask, specially when you are talking to people you do not know and not 3 meters away from them.

  • That you should always do hands washing.

  • That you should take time to sleep early to avoid stress. And so with me I tried to be away from the Internet late in the evening.

  • That you should be taking vitamin supplement specially vitamin c.

  • That you should be eating more of vegetables and fruits.

  • That you should be drinking at least 8 glasses of water and more fruit juices.

  • That we should maintain proper hygiene always.

  • That we should always trust in God. I know that he will take care of you and me specially now that you and I are battling with this AH1N1 virus.

The only thing to fear is fear itself...someone great said that even though I don't remember who.

To your speedy recovery from what ails you at this time.

There hasn't been much said lately about this flu, I wonder if they have it under control? With our immune systems compromised we become easy targets for these viruses, hope you were not infected.

emohealer-about the quote, it was in fact F.D.R.--U.S. President Franklin Delanore Roosevelt. He said those words during his famous "Fireside Chats" at the height of the Great Depression.

beautyrose-that must have been quite a harrying and vexing experience for you. I hope the worst of it is over.
