It does not take a rocket scientist to buy beach lounge chairs for your home. However, since the going rate for this furniture piece is rather on the higher end of the price range, there are a few things to consider so that you will not squander your money on regrettable seating pieces. But first thing’s first: where exactly would you propose to set up your lounge chairs. Although the obvious answer would be near the pool or the beach, you might be surprised to note that many homeowners install their beach lounge chairs as far away from the water as possible. If you are indeed of thinking about buying lounge chairs that you can use for your beach or picnic outings, you may want to consider getting the portable kinds. These should be made from lightweight materials, easy to set up, easy to fold and resilient enough to withstand long hours under the sun with a person resting his or her entire weight on it.

Your best options here would be: folding beach chairs with steel tubing, preferably with nylon or plastic seat covers. Cloth or canvas seats are great if you do not intend to take a dip in the waters. Cloth and canvas seats absorb moisture like sponges and may take a long time to dry off.

Which Material To Choose For An Beach Lounge Chair?

The same goes for aluminum tubing. Although aluminum is the most common material used in all manner of beach chairs, it has been proven over and over that combining moisture and this metal is never good. Water, particularly salt water from most beaches, is quite corrosive to aluminum lounge chair structures and can cause permanent damage to the chairs’ legs and joints. Rust and metal tears are the usual outcome and no amount of exterior plastic covering can protect nor keep the damaged tubing in.

Although a tad bit heavier than aluminum, steel tubing is a far better option. These are usually treated to repel moisture and can stand up to the wear and tear of constant heat exposure while being subjected to stress. “Stress” in this regards refers to the weight of the person using the chairs.

Portable plastic beach lounge chairs is another seemingly likely option when it comes to beach and picnic outings – or are they? Unfortunately, plastic tends to absorb heat, water stains, and even sweat stains from the body, making the exposed plastic parts discolor very quickly. If you are planning on reusing your plastic lounge chairs over and over, it would be better to use these under the shade and away from direct sunlight.

However, if you are planning on getting more permanent (and less portable) set of lounge chairs for your home, you might want to peruse several wooden furniture pieces instead. Wood is the all time favorite when it comes to beach chairs, recliners and chaises. These are the perfect materials for long sun exposure and when given the right pre-use treatment, can be moisture repellant as well. Wooden lounge chairs are especially resilient to stress and can accommodate heavier loads than flimsy legged aluminum chairs. However, it is recommended that beach chairs of this type are set up on level or semi level grounds.

Indoor or Outdoor?

Having lounge chairs for indoor use is more common than you think. Some homeowners prefer keeping their lounge chaises within the confines of their shaded porch or even right inside the conservatory. The den and the library are also common indoor spaces where these chairs can be seen. If you are planning on keeping such a seating piece (or matching sets) indoors, you can practically choose whatever material or structure you want.

Mixed media materials (like wood and chrome, or wrought iron and aluminum) are ideal in indoor settings, particularly because these blend well with almost any room’s interior décor. Cloth and other fabric based seating – and that includes having padded cushions – are also wonderful accessories to add to your indoor lounge chairs. And like any other seating furniture in the house, you can spruce up your wares with some throw pillows or sofa drapes.

If you really want comfort, you can try using sling lounge chairs with leather seats and padding. Sling lounge chairs of this kind may be impractical right out there on the beach; but if the temperature is balmy and the air is dry right inside your home, these seating pieces may just offer you the perfect place for a nap after a long hard day.
