Beach quotes can be used in many ways, from printing on an invitation for a wedding to be held on or near a beach, to invitations or decorations for a beach themed party, to highlighting on a scrapbook page the good times that were had on a beach vacation, or just to give a person a little beach inspired break from daily life.

Quotes about the beach can invoke many emotions. They can inspire a feeling of nostalgia or serenity, or invoke feelings of sadness or loneliness for some. Funny beach quotes are favorite’s for those therapeutic moments stolen in the middle of a hectic day. Romantic quotes from the beach are perfect for wedding invitations or announcements. The beach quotes chosen for scrapbook projects should evoke memories of the times spent there by the scrapbooker.

Beach quotes are available from an incredible array of sources, from the Farmer’s Almanac to writers, poets, philosophers, movie stars, sports figures and the ever popular “anonymous” to whom so many great quotes are attributed.  One of the most quoted and published beach quotes anywhere is the story about the footprints in the sand where the writer notices that in times of trial and tribulation, the footprints of Jesus were no longer visible beside his own, to which Jesus replied that it was not that he had abandoned him, but that during those tough times, he was carrying him. That particular beach quote is available on posters, postcards, blankets and souvenirs of all kinds.

Another extremely popular, but not nearly as positive, quote from the beach is the ubiquitous “Life is a beach, and then you drown” quote that is often displayed on bumpers of cars or stickers on a locker door.

The beach meant a great deal to many famous people such as Helen Keller who insisted “I could never stay long enough on the shore, the tang of the untainted, fresh and free sea air was like a cool, quieting thought.” and to Ralph Waldo Emerson who sang out “Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.”  On the other end of the spectrum, Philip Johnson grouses, “I hate vacations. If you can build buildings, why sit on the beach?” The Farmer’s Almanac published a tongue in cheek quote stating that “A real friend is someone who takes a winter vacation on a sun-drenched beach and does not send a card.” American writer Ambrose Bierce  offers the sardonic description, “Ocean: A body of water occupying two-thirds of a world made for man who has no gills.” Anne Morrow Lindberg, American writer and aviator poignantly points out that “One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach; one can collect only a few, and they are more beautiful if they are few.” Even the father of modern science, Sir Isaac Newton got in on the beach quotes with his comment, “To myself I am only a child playing on the beach, while vast oceans of truth lie undiscovered before me.”  American writer and actor Steven Wright exclaims that “Babies don't need a vacation but I still see them at the beach. I'll go over to them and say, 'What are you doing here, you've never worked a day in your life!'.”

Beach quotes can be used as a great opening line for a speech or an icebreaker when meeting someone new. A beach quote on a handmade card can lighten the spirit of an invalid. To brighten the mood of a person who loves the beach but cannot physically visit it, a beach quote can take them there in spirit. Whether a person is using it to evoke wistfulness, serenity, humor, pathos or some other emotion, a good beach quote is always a great addition to a conversation.

And whether a person is scrap-booking a family vacation that took them to the beach to make some memories, planning a romantic ocean-side wedding or throwing a beach themed party, the use of beach quotes can go a long way toward making the occasion more fun, more festive, and more memorable. Perhaps they can be summarized well by this beach quote from Michelle Held, “Don't grow up too quickly, lest you forget how much you love the beach.”

UK Head Coach John Calipari On whether the team is growing together… "The best teams I've coached, they would move in mass. They would go to a movie and they would all go; they would go to the mall and they'd all go. My best teams, whether they were Massachusetts or Memphis, that's how they were. I was in my hotel room yesterday and I looked out and I see all of them walking around the complex ...
