If you are not a patient forgiving person then Beagles might not be for you. They are cute and loving. They have adorable mannerisms but........they are hunting dogs at heart. They will chase birds,squirrels,cats butterfies. They dig under fences, they leap over fences. The barl alot and howl on occassion as well.

They are stubborn,but the endearing personality and the tilt of the head seem to make up for it.(lets face it I have alot of patients). They are very intelligent, too intelligent because they are relentless when they are after something or want something. Forget thinking they are quiet and timid. They are protective of their home and masters.(yes some bite). So If you get one prepare for it. They can jump a 6foot privacy fence, dig under it, they dig holes in search of whatever is underground(moles for example). But in contrast they are easily house broken, they like routine, they adapt well to change. But they are noisy, they leave your yard looking like a war zone(you won't get yard of the month).

They are good when they feel like being good, and that may not be all the time.So be patient and loving and you will beblessed with lots of love in return and mischief at every corner.
