Beauty obsession: Mint that's meant to be
57One interesting thing about life is that you never know when a new obsession is going to hit you! And, it's like love - if you look for it, you will not find it. Currently, my passion is for incredible mint beauty products! I am a picky kind of gal, but have to share the good news about the following products:
- The Body Shop (circled R) Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue
- Back to Basics (circled R) fresh energizing mint shampoo and conditioner
- Burt's Bees (circled R) Pepperment Foot Lotion
- 365 (TM) Herbal Mint Shower Gel
First things first, The Body Shop's Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue is a beauty must have! Trust me, as a gal who values pretty feet, I have looked high and low for a foot cream that meets my many demands: quality consistency, pleasant but not overwhelming aroma, does what it says it will do, reasonable price.
Well, this product not only passes the criteria; it blows them away! I had read several people suggest this when researching online, and now I know why.
First of all, this cream comes in a 3.56 ounce tub for under $20. It is easy to open and close - a plus as some tube creams can get messy. The color is delightful - a pale pink that Elle in Legally Blonde would just die for!
But better yet, the aroma is one of the most incredible of any beauty product I have bought in some time. It smells like a candy cane. It is not too sweet, nor too strong. There is just a purity to this scent that invigorates.
Spreading it on your feet after a hot shower is pure bliss, and if you put some cotton socks on immediately afterward, your feet will be in heaven. I have been using this product for only a short time, but it totally seems to work. Thank you, Body Shop!
Next is Back to Basics (circled R) fresh energizing mint shampoo and conditioner.
First, I must confess. I am a hair product snob, and was one of the first of my friends to discover Aveda back in the early 90s. People who are into products can be snobby that way, just like the folks who used to frequent record stores and know about cool music before you did.
While there are tons of great hair products out there, and many flavored in mint, this one is my new fave. One of the main things I like about it is that it is gentle in fragrance and feel.
Some of the other products out there seem to go a bit overboard in these areas, leaving me feeling like my head is tingling a bit too much.
The aroma of this shampoo and conditioner is a bit more on the spearmint side, and it is light in texture and will not weigh your hair down. Even better, the price for this product is extremely affordable. You can find this online. I got mine in-store at Ulta.
Did I mention that I am obsessed with mint products? Oh yeah, I did. Well that being the case, I had to try more than one peppermint lotion, of course, which led me to Burt's Bees (circled R) Pepperment Foot Lotion.
I found this good stuff at Kroger in the natural foods section, but the local Whole Foods also carries this product line. This lotion is refreshing smelling, and does live up to its peppermint name.
While I personally prefer The Body Shop creme for my feet, this lotion is one that I like for my legs and elbows. It does not clash with the other prodcut, and it leaves me feeling just minty good!
And, last but not least in my mint arsenal is 365 (TM) Herbal Mint Shower Gel.
You can get this invigorating shower gel at Whole Foods, and it is awesome! Similar to the other products, the aroma is crisp but not too strong. It wakes up the senses when you use it.
It also is inexpensive, which is just dandy in these hard economic times. Since I use a shower gel frequently, it really makes an impact when the price is right. And, here's an added bonus: a little beauty trick. You can use a bit of this when shaving your legs. It's so much less messier than shaving creme, and a little bit goes a long way.
Well, that's a wrap on my incredible mint beauty product finds. Seriously, if you load up on some of these items, you will be in mint condition! Enjoy!
