Landscaping is a very important part of building a beautiful house. You will have spent a lot on landscaping and decided to have a perfect green lawn at your house. Lawns are a great idea for a home. They are an ideal place to relax and even have parties or barbeques. However, green lawns are not so easy to get. Try as you might, the lawn might turn out to be lackluster. This article gives you a few tips to get that perfect green lawn.

Mowing is an important factor that many people tend to overlook. Cut the grass to a height of two and a half to four inches. Cutting grass to a very low height does not allow the grass to grow a strong set of roots. Take care to ensure you mow the grass only when it is dry. Mowing the grass when it is wet can lead to diseases and other problems. The mower you use should be of high quality. The mower is not a place to be worrying about cost. Go for the best one and ensure the blades are sharp. The blades must be checked and sharpened every seven to ten times you use it. The clippings are best left on the lawn itself. It acts as mulch and is very valuable.

Watering is another important factor. Water regularly and keep the soil moist. This helps in growth of the lawn. It is best to soak the lawns instead of just supplying water to the surface. Soaking the lawn helps the grass roots grow deep. Water only when you see a need. Excess of water can be harmful too. Try to water in the mornings and not in the evenings.

Use compost. This helps the soil structure. It does not matter when you use compost as long as you do end up using it. Use compost and fertilizers just before seeding. When you are seeding, it is best to use a slow release fertilizer. However, at later times it is best if you use a fertilizer that is fast releasing. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are the most important nutrients for plants. Use fertilizers with all three nutrients. Testing the soil for the right type of fertilizer helps too.
