Beauty Secrets from Around the World
70Beauty is one thing that is definitely in the eye of the beholder. From all corners of the world everyone achieves beauty in different ways. Being considered beautiful seems to be something everyone strives for in life. It might be interesting to you how others view beauty, because I was.
Having collagen being placed into some one's skin to look more rejuvenated and wrinkle free is global, but different countries achieve that look using very different techniques. For example, some women in Japan eat collagen filled foods everyday to gain youthful skin. In the United States, more and more women are getting botox shots and plastic surgery to get rid of those pesky wrinkles and age marks.
Having gorgeous thick, strong hair is another beautiful quality women want globally. In Japan, women straighten their hair because they feel flat simple hair is perfectly beautiful. In India, women are known for their naturally long thick locks and they have turned that into a growing business. The united States buys hair from India to use in wigs and extensions because their hair is such a good quality. In the States extensions can go from around $2,000 for short ones, up to $4,000 for long ones! More and more Americans are using wigs and extensions and making that into a booming beauty industry. another hair example comes from Middle Eastern Oman. They use dry rose petals and mix with boiling water, then rinse their hair with the rose infused water. Beauty is not only in the sense of sight, smell is also very important!
Another way some people view beauty is tattooing. I live in the United States and tattoos seem pretty popular, but in New Zealand they have raised that popularity to an art form. Having your chin and lips tattooed is about as gorgeous as you can get there! The saying "beauty is pain" is probably very well known to the women of New Zealand.
In Ethiopia, there is another painful beauty regime. At the age of five young girls have scars cut into their stomachs by elders. Over the years, more scars are cut until a certain number of them is received and then they are considered beautiful enough to receive a man to marry. Ouch!
Another beauty technique I am very guilty of is skin masks. Using either your own home made fruit masks or scrubs and store bought products are popular all over the world. Healthy glowing skin always looks beautiful! In India, women mix humeric, lemon and honey and then generously spread over their skin. The natural juices soak into the skin to create that wonderful fresh look. I use a lot of lemon as well on my skin. I love the way it feels afterwards!
Body weight and being seen in a certain way is another beautiful quality that is global. For instance in Brazil, the average body weight for women is 110-125 lbs. Women are constantly trying to fit into that standard. Brazil has become the biggest consumer of diet pills and comes in second for number of plastic surgeries, United States being number one.
Being beautiful is always in constant demand all over the world. I hope you found the different ideas of beauty interesting like I did!
