The interesting thing about Bebo is the customization of your profile. Bebo.com does seem to be gaining in popularity in the US, though as a whole, bebo is more widespread in Ireland, the UK, and Canada. For a social networking site to succeed, it has to be the "go-to" place for friends to connect. It looks like with only a 1.18% market share in the US, bebo has a long way to go before it is the social network of choice among American teens. However, with this new applications and widgets, there may be a draw - they just need to find something to offer that MySpace and Facebook have not already captured. However, with the detailed instructions on how to make a bebo skin widely available, designers are flocking to bebo, where they don't have to deal with the messy codes that myspace uses for their layouts.
