Wether you are a real estate agent looking for extra income or a home owner in need of selling your home quickly, learning to be a home staging expert can be the answer. The real estate market is highly competitive today and knowing how to sell a house is very important. A home that is presented in the right way has a better chance of selling faster - within a month is the average. A home that was not professionally staged sits on the market a lot longer and buyers begin to wonder what's wrong with the house.

A Home Staging Expert can point out what needs to be changed or removed in order for a buyer to see the good things about the home. When a home is cluttered full of personal belongings - although important to you - a potential buyer will tend to see the negative features of your home and skip over the beauty within.

Remove personal items such as family pictures, knick-knacks, kid's artwork, awards...Buyers want to be able to picture their belongings in your home. Pack away all non-essentials and store them. Give your home a thorough cleaning. Wipe down woodwork, blinds, stairways, light fixtures. Clean draperies and carpets. Windows and mirrors need to shine. Straighten up the garage - which is often overlooked. Keep pantries and closets organized so buyers can see how much storage they actually have. Pick up toys and clothing. Keep mail from piling up on counters. Don't overlook the laundry room. Keep clothes folded and put away.

Too much furniture can be a negative. Blocked windows can obstruct the beautiful view. Remove bulky furniture to free up space. This makes the room seam bigger. You want a buyer to see the wood floors that were recently redone? Uncover them by taking up any area rugs. Repaint walls in neutral, warm colors.

And don't forget the outside of your home. Shake out the welcome mat. Sweep walkways, repare any major cracks and keep them free of debris. Make sure landscape lighting is working properly. Clean the porch. Pull weeds in landscaped areas and put down mulch to keep it looking neat.

When a home looks well taken care of, buyers will notice. Whether you hire a professional home staging expert or become one yourself, your house will sell quicker. Staging your home is probably the best investment you could make. After all, most buyers make the decision to purchase within the first few moments of walking into your home. It needs to be perfect!
