Beef Pot Pie Recipe

Ingredients

1 pound sirloin steak, cubed

salt to taste

ground black pepper to taste

3 large carrots, diced

1 (14 ounce) can beef broth

1 cup frozen green peas, thawed

3 potatoes, cubed

3 tablespoons cornstarch

2 (9 inch) refrigerator pie crusts

1/3 cup water

Over medium heat place a saucepan and brown the pieces of steak on all sides. Pour in some water to almost cover. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. You want to simmer the beef until it is nice and tender. It should fall apart easily. This will take approx 2 to 3 hours. Put the meat in a large mixing bowl. Shred the meat slightly and add salt and pepper to taste.

In another 2 quart saucepan over medium heat, pour in beef broth and add carrots and potatoes. You want to cook this until it is almost tender. This will take approx 15 to 20 minutes. Now preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

Put the vegetables into a large mixing bowl with the beef. Leave the liquid in the pan. Combine the vegetables and beef together.

In a 1/3 cup of water  dissolve the cornstarch with the. Pour into the saucepan of beef broth, stirring constantly. You want to bring this to a simmer then reduce the heat. You want to cook this for about 5 minutes.

Take a 9 inch pie plate and line it with one of the pie crust. Now you want to put the beef mixture into the pie crust. Over the top of the mixture pour the gravy and then cover it with another pie crust. In a preheated oven bake it until the crust is golden brown. Before serving make sure you leave it to cool for 5 minutes.
