Disclaimer: All opinions and views expressed in this hub are based on my personal opinion and experiences of those who had gone through abortion and as such are not by any means binding on anyone.
Abortion by its nature has become the most controversial and crucial moral issue of our day. It is possible you have done one, have someone who have done one or seen or heard about the experiences of those who have been involved with abortion.
This hub is not targeted at anyone or to prove whether abortion is right or wrong but a conscientious effort to reveal some facts that would guide whoever is intending to engage in abortion in taking a decision.
It is possible that most people who had abortion may have struggled within themselves on whether to go ahead with it or not.
Today, we have pro-abortion and anti-abortion. Well, every person would not have the same opinion on an issue.
There are several questions to consider on the issue of abortion. The answers to these questions have helped people to form opinion about abortion and take decisions while it has also confused some the more.
Some of these questions are Is Abortion a woman’s right or a war on the unborn?
Does the word “person” include the unborn?
Does the unborn has rights and life that should be protected?
Is abortion equivalent to murder-the taking of innocent human life?
Is abortion only about choice and personal right of the woman?
When does human life begin?
Are there alternatives and options to Abortion?
I would want you to consider and compare the following figures on the lives lost on wars and that of abortion by America.
Civil war #498,000
World War 1 #116,000
World War II #545,000
Korean War #54,000
Revolutionary #25,000
War on the unborn (Abortion) #45,000,000 +
Incidentally, the number of lives lost through abortion is over seven times the number of Jews killed by Narcissisms during the Holocaust war.
It is like wiping out the States of Kansas, Ohio, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Dakota, and Wyoming.
Tyler Young remarked that one out of every four children born since 1973 is aborted. More African-American babies die in abortion than all other African-American deaths combined.
There are several reasons or opinion given why abortion should be or not legalized and practiced.
Some say “keep abortion legal”
“Stop Abortion now”
“My body my choice”
“Abortion kills children”
“Abortion is murder”
“It’s your choice, not theirs”
I discovered that Abortion centres on “choice”. A woman’s right to choice, a woman’s reproductive right to freedom. The terminology used here is critical.
Some people would say they believe in a woman’s right of choice and freedom but would not actually say the word “abortion”.
However, an informed choice should take into consideration the following- the dangers of such choice, physical and emotional effects of such choice (abortion), absolute disclosure of related information on abortion for an unbiased and deeper understanding before a choice is made, alternatives and options to abortion (adoption or assistance to help with the baby), parental consent (inform the parents of the teen to give an opinion or advice).
Study shows that those who have abortion have a higher tendency to suffer depression, engage in substance abuse, deep emotional scars, regrets, fear, and shame. These effects are known as post-abortion syndrome.
Most people who have done abortion express the effects of such action on their lives and that of the loved ones. Take a look here.
Please read the other hub on "When Does Human Life begin?" to have a comprehensive information before you make a decision.
