Games of the XXIX Olympiad

The 2008 Olympic Games are to be held in Beijing, China. They will start on August 8th, and go through to August 26th. The opening ceremony will begin at exactly 08:08:08 P.M. Eight is a lucky number in China.

The games will consist of 302 events in 28 different sports. Over 10,000 athletes will participate in the games.

The Beijing Olympics are not without controversy and several countries and leaders have created campaigns to boycott the games. China has come under attack over human rights violations and religious freedom.

For businesses looking to break into the developing Chinese market, they are using the Olympic games to heavily market their products.

Beijing's air pollution is predicted to create problems with long distance and endurance events. The government is doing everything they can to clean the air, including attempts to reduce the number of cars on the road and making the Olympic period a holiday for businesses.

The Chinese government sees the Olympics as a way to show the world how developed the country is politically and socially. Amid all of the controversy the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games are going to be a spectacular event.
