Being Happy
52I've known a lot of people. A lot of said people weren't happy. I've learned through experience that some people are just too high strung, or are just generally pissed. I'm usually a happy person, so I figured I'd give you a few tips on just how to be happy. Keep in mind, this won't cure depression, and it may not work for an extended period of time, so I recommend several doses a week.
- Smile - Smiling is a great way to be happy. If you smile for a while (IT RHYMED!!!), your brain usually gets infected by this mood, and you just get happier. If you don't wanna smile 'cause you don't wanna be creepy, then don't frown. At least think happy, and smile if only a little bit. It's amazing how so little can do so much.
- Relax - Kick back and relax for a while. Don't think about much. But sit there, maybe play some videogames, boogieboard the interweb, watch some TV, or take a nap. Doesn't matter what. Just unwind a bit. The world's been here 4 billion years. It can wait a few hours.
- Do something you enjoy - Whether it be play music or play a sport, do something you like. My dad plays golf every Sunday, and it helps him a lot. My mom watches old movies. My sister... well she's constantly in a bad mood, but that's how 13 year old girls are, right?
- Read - If your life is sad or stressful, escape it in a book. If you choose a really, really, really, really, really good author, you'll forget your troubles while you read, and for some time after. I, personally, suggest a fantasy book of some sort. Anything works though, as long as it's fiction.
- Converse - Do it with anyone. A bit of mental and social stimulation should help quite a bit. If you have someone handy, try and start a conversation. If not, call someone up. Just to say "Hello," even. Plus, it's a good way to keep in touch with old friends, and maybe surprise a girl/boyfriend.
- Joke around - Laughing. Better than smiling, and burns more calories! Seriously, laughing is possibly the best way to be happy listed here. I don't doubt it. Whether it be from lack of oxygen, or just real happiness, you feel giddy, and things don't seem quite as bad.
Remember these methods of being happy. Trust me, things will be a lot better. I do this stuff tons and I am extremely happy. Every happy person I know does this stuff. It works. If you don't do it for yourself, then at least do it for everyone else. Besides, do you enjoy being with an angry person?
