Lately I have been receiving this question "Is it okay to mix colors and styles of my Bridesmaid dresses?!" the answer is YES. I am able to show you five photos of bridal parties that have done just that. Nowadays anything goes and more people are stemming away from the Traditional gowns. Let's face it, it is very expensive to go for dresses that end up being worn once. For this reason we direct you to try out local department stores first. They have young and hip evening dresses that are usually under $150.00 which is FABULOUS in my book! They always have sales.

I love the idea to mix the bridesmaid dresses with the maid of honor such as the first photo. The maid of honor is very special as is the bridesmaids but it also helps classify to your guests which one is the maid of honor! Also having your bridesmaid dresses in different styles helps make your girls look more flattering by choosing which styles suit them best. We are of all different shapes, sizes and lengths so one dress style is not always going to look spectacular on every one of us. You should take that into account when browsing for dresses. Wouldn't you rather have a bridal party that are "Knock-outs" then literal Knock-outs in a boxing ring? I know I would. They won't shine on your parade, trust me. You are the spot light of the night. No one will get in the way of your glow! At the end of the day you should want them to be happy and comfortable.

Suggestions to note:

  • One color and different styles in the same material
  • One color with same style but different material
  • Different shades of one color in different styles but same material
  • Different shades of one color in same style and material

Stores such as Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, J-Crew have very nice dress selections. Try browsing online first and then set a date with your girls to go try the ones you have selected on. Also remember shoes and bags can be found on our recommendation page. Endless has tons that are under $50.00 under bridal.

Best of Luck on selecting your colors and dresses for your girls!
