Benefit of VoIP

VoIP (voice over internet protocol or voice over ip), or simply a telephone via the internet is now the latest technology in communications. You will find a lot of advertising in all types of media such as TV, print, radio and specially on the internet regarding this type of communication service.

I believe that very soon, traditional telephone systems will be replaced by this new technology. With VoIP you do not need to have your local telephone company install a regular telephone line so you can start calling your friends. If you have an existing telephone line, cable, satellite or even your smartphone, you can easily ask a VoIP service provider to have you connected just like using a regular phone.

Now the major benefit of VoiP is that they are cheaper than a traditional landline subscription. Normally it is free when you call another VoIP subscriber no matter where they are. There are also additional benefits like your convenience in accessing this type of service and you can start calling whenever there is internet access via any program or device that utilizes VoIP. Imagine, with a traditional telephone line, if you are somewhere else, you will not be able to make calls unless you pay extra charges.

With a VoIP account just use the internet wherever you are, access your account and voila! Using your mobile phone to call instead of your regular mobile phone subscription is just superb. Imagine talking for hours to friends and family across the world whilst paying nothing ! Of course you will have to pay your internet bill but then if you have a very good unlimited internet connection plan, this can save you a lot!

the technology is very impressive but it sounds like the real savings would come if others in your life have the voip also. it sounds like the wave of the future but will take time to implement.

Any small savings adds up! VOIP is cheaper than mobile phones and landlines and sometimes it is free (with your internet account the only expense). This is great!

Thank you for providing such a complete overview of VOIP. I was interested in switching over and I'm finally doing it - it will save me a bundle since I talk internationally.

I have been having trouble with local telephone company so we discussed getting the Vonage/VOIP service to try something different. Just hoping the techonology is set up to not have bugs in the system so we can use the telephone service. I have not heard anything negative so must be good option to change over to.

VOIP is the bomb, why anyone still uses the "phone company" is beyond me.

It seems a lodgical step considering how much cell phones have caught on. I think more and more people will be going away from traditional phone lines.

I have relatives in all over the world. I will sign up for voIP 75 soon so that we can save money on our phone bill. Right now, my family does not have a home telephone, just cellphones. After knowning that VoIp 75 can make the cost of calling decrease, I don't see any reason for not signing up for VoIP service.
