Benefits and Disadvantages of Wind Power
57Surely, wind power has become a popular alternative as an energy source these days. That's why a lot of people have come to ask: if wind power has a lot of benefits, can there also be disadvantages, too? Below are some list of the advantages and disadvantages of wind power that I have browsed on.
Let us first talk about the disadvantages of wind power. Actually, there are only a few as what I have found out during my research. The one major problem about wind energy is that sometimes, there is not enough wind to produce electricity depending on the season. That's for some countries with changing seasons. Wind is very unpredictable for them. Even so, this is not considered a big issue in most parts of the world. And as a matter of fact, wind is very impossible to run out. Also, people complain about the noise that the wind generators produce while working on converting the wind into energy. This depends on how big the generators are, though. When wind generators are big, some of the neighbors might find it distracting since it destroys the scenery of their homes.
How about the benefits of wind power? The major benefit of wind energy is that it is very, very cheap. All you need to buy is a windmill that costs around $250. Seems big, but it's a small investment to pay, compared to paying electricity bills every month. With this kind of price, your bills can be lowered down to about 70%! Wind energy, of course, is very environment-friendly. Unlike fossil fuels, wind energy only uses wind as a source; it doesn't need to spit out pollutants like fossil fuels do.
These are one of the major benefits and disadvantages that wind energy has. But because companies have found out that it is efficient and safe for the environment, wind power is becoming more and more popular these days. Millions of people are already using it and buying wind generators that are available in the market as a use in their own homes. For most people, wind power is a great opportunity for opening up a business.
