Almost all top issuers of credit cards have special offers for students. This is because they fall in a special spending class. They may not have much to spend but every year; they make the most sales in various categories. These issuers have varying rates for both high school and college students and it is up to the student to compare these rates and make an online application for a low rate credit card of their choice.

A good starting point is the Citi ForwardSM Card for College Students that rewards students for good behavior. They do this by offering a 2% APR reduction anytime the student makes a purchase under their credit line and pays on time 3 billings in a row. Students can earn bonus points as they spend which they can redeem for cashback rewards. Reward points are also offered spending on dining, books, movies and music. The card comes with an introductory APR rate of 0% for the first 6 months on all purchases and balance transfers and a regular APR of 14.24% thereafter.

The Citi® mtvUTM Platinum Select® Visa® Card for College Students offers a 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 6 months. Students get to earn ThankYou points for every dollar they spend at restaurants, bookstores, rental stores, movie theatres and video rental stores. All points can be redeemed for gift cards, travel, electronics and music. Upon the end of the APR period, a regular rate of 14.24 applies.

Discover® Student Card offers 5% cashback bonus on travel, home improvement, stores, gas, restaurants, pet stores and departmental stores. It also gives a 1% cashback bonus on all other purchases. Like in many no fee credit cards, students are given a 5% to 20% cashback bonus on all purchases made through their exclusive online shopping site. A special introductory APR rate of 0% applies for 6 months and a 14.99% rate kicks in thereafter. There is no annual fee charged but balance transfers are not catered fro under this card. All these special rates for students are meant to tap into their spending ways. Make your choice on the best card and apply.

The internet can help you find out suitable student credit cards with better plans that suit the needs of students. While you search the web make sure that you compare the credit cards of one brand with another to find out which one would be suitable to you. Yes, never forget to check the hidden charges and other similar issues before you sign for a credit card. It is wise to check every aspect of such card to avoid later hassles of payments.
