Benjamin Franklin was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America and a scientist who was a major figure in the Enlightenment and the history of physics for his discoveries and theories regarding electricity.
His curiosity, thought, planning, persistence, and an interest in how things in the world work led him to invent so many things. He was famous for being a scientist, an inventor, a statesman, a printer, a philosopher, a musician, and an economist.
His famous inventions were the lightning rod, bifocals, the Franklin stove, a carriage odometer, and a musical glass instrument. in Pennsylvania he formed the first fire department and the first public lending library in America. He was an early proponent of colonial unity , he invented the idea of an American nationand the one who secured the French alliance that helped to make independence possible. He was a great men although bald he is not bad with the ladies.
Bifocals
One of Benjamin Franklin's noticable inventions were the reading glasses that he has been using himself which led him to be a great man without it, and helped him to see things clearly. Although he may be the most talented and intelligent person he was unfortunate enough to be both myopic (near-sighted) and hyperopic (far-sighted). Through his frustration of constantly switching pairs of glasses he thought of the ability to see both near and far with a single frame. He accomplished this by cutting the lenses of two pairs of spectacles in half and put half of each lens in one sole frame. This invention has given people a convenient way in which to correct their vision for both distance and reading, Today millions of individuals take advantage of Franklin's bifocals,
Today Reading Sunglasses or Sunreaders uses bifocal lenses allowing the wearer to read with it while protecting the user from Ultraviolet Rays under the heat of the sun. One of the advantages of these Reading Sunglasses is, user's doesn't need to switch from Reading Glasses to Sunglasses or vice versa.
