Bennetts Bike Insurance is actually not an insurer that underwrites their own policies to cover damages for riders and bikers. Instead, they are bike insurance brokers that have access to the products from 13 UK and Northern Ireland insurers.

Bennetts Bike Insurance is popular with riders that prefer to compare motorcycle insurance rates before buying and they have around 200,000 clients which is very impressive for a bike insurance brokerage firm. They are based in Coventry and Peterborough and have more than 300 full time staff at the moment.

You can get quotes from up to 19 different bike insurance plans from Bennetts directly, so it is a pretty convenient service. But do you have to pay a service charge for using their brokerage and bike insurance aggregation services?

Actually, Bennetts get paid from the bike insurers when you buy a third party or fully comprehensive insurance, just like the way an insurance agent gets paid. It is a fee that has already been factored into the cost of the insurance premium. You may be able to get cheap motorbike insurance rates if you go to the underwriting insurer directly.

Optional Riders From Bennetts Insurance

Having said that, Bennetts Bike Insurance offers some additional benefits on top of any plans you buy through them. For example, your Bennetts bike policy will cover you even if you are not riding your own bike.

For example, if you get involved in a road accident while riding your friend's scooter, you will still be covered by your Bennetts bike insurance (yo do not have to claim from your friend's scooter insurance). These benefits are subject to certain conditions such as minimum rider age and so on, and details can be found in your policy document. You also get free 90 days European country cover when you ride your bike across the continent.

Although we are not sure why a normal person needs to own up to 6 bikes, the Bennetts Multibike insurance policy allows you to cover all your 6 bikes in a single plan. Maybe you are a bike collector or you own a delivery fleet, so this will help you get discounts on subsequent bike insurance cover.

You can also pay for your Bennetts Bike Insurance in monthly installments inside up a single upfront lump sum. You can set up a direct debit arrangement where the premium is deducted every month from your bank account.

Bennetts motorcycle insurance plans comes with the RAC rider (roadside assistance cover). When your tank scooter fails while you are on the road, you can contact the RAC network for fast response to wherever you are and perform repairs on your bike to make it working again. If they cannot do so while on the roadside, they will bring your bike back to the nearest garage.

You can choose to add the Personal Accident Cover to your Bennetts policy that provides a cash benefit in the event of accidental death, loss of limbs, sight, speech or hearing etc. This is to replace loss of income and financial support to help reduce the pain and distress from the aftermath of traffic accidents.

If you can afford fully comprehensive bike insurance plans, Bennetts provide these additional benefits over third party motorcycle insurance. If you bike is bought new and within 6 months, it is either stolen or require repair costs above 70% of its brand new price, Bennetts will replace it with a new motorbike of the same make and specification.

Many people are not aware that transportation of your crashed bike to the garage for repairs is often not covered by your bike insurance. However, the fully comprehensive Bennetts bike insurance policies do so for free and even deliver your repaired bike back to you.

The sixties are over. And so is the threat of topless bike rides. With the first blizzard of the season shelving plans of cycling activists to ride half-naked in Williamsburg in protest of an eradicated Bedford Avenue bike lane, 20 cyclists gamely put on their long johns and winter jackets and continued onward.
