"Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital," his publicist, Danica Smith, said in a statement. She said no other details were available and requested that his family's privacy be respected. Earlier this week she had said reports of Mac's serious illness were overstated and that he was expected to make a full recovery.

I was in displayed believe this morning when I got a call from my friend and she told me Bernie Mac had died this morning. It just didn't make it any sense to me, so I rushed to the computer to see what I could find and it was true. A great comedian, a great actor and a great human being has left us.

It's crazy how something like death can make you ponder about life. It makes you want cherish every moment, because you never know...it could be your last.
