Finding The Best 60 Inch Plasma TV

There are actually suprisingly few really good quality Plasma TV sets out there with a 60 inch screen, but the ones that there are truly offer the best home entertainment experience that you can get. To write this 'subhub' for my main best plasma tv's page I have been looking at all of the plasma televisions on the market which you can get with a 60 inch screen and I have picked out 2 of the best, which I think can't be beaten for quality. If you're just looking for cheap, or even if you're looking for the best value for money, then you have come to the wrong place, because I picked these out purely based on which were the very best, regardless of cost. Each one has something slightly different to offer and will suit different people depending on what your priorities are, and I have written a brief review of each one to let you know what their main features and most relevant specs are, along with which areas I think they perform best in. I have also included links to the amazon product page for each set where you can get the full specs, and if you look at the images for these links you will see that they include the 'List Price' - which is the price which the manufacturer has recommended for their product and around about the price that you will pay in most high street stores, in addition to the amazon price.

Pioneer PDP-6020FD 60-Inch Plasma HDTV

This Pioneer 'Kuro' television set has the maximum 1080p resolution high definition picture quality, with the ability to accept 480i,480p,720p,1080i and 1080p signals and 'crystal emissive layer' for deeper blacks and clearer detail. The 'optimum mode' setting allows the set to monitor both ambient light levels and what you are watching to intelligently adjust brightness, contrast and so on to give you the best possible picture (or you can choose youurself between other modes with fixed settings for gaming, movies, sports and so on). The screen also has a filter to make sure that your viewing is not affected by glare from bright sunlight. For sound you get an integrated amplifier and a detachable speaker with noise reduction technology. Together these give an unrivalled picture quality and very good sound quality. The only possible area that lets this set down is internet connectivity. You can connect to your pc, and you can download content through Microsofts PlaysForSure to watch on your TV, but you don't get the feeds and freedom of access that you would with some sets. But if you're not bothered about the internet stuff, then this one has got to rank right at the top of the pile.

As you would expect from a top quality set this one from LG also has the full 1080p resolution for high definition television viewing and a 30,000:1 native contrast ration, which I think I am right in saying is the highest hat you can get, meaning that you will get the most vivid colors and clearest details on the picture for this set. It also has Fluid Motion technology (180 Hz Effect) so that there is no blurring with even the fastest action. The whole front of the set is a single piece of glass, with no distinction between the actual screen and the surrounding border, and this combined with the 'invisible speaker system' which vibrates the whole front panel for sound rather than having an independent speaker, gives it a very nice looking design, especially (in my opinion) if your going to have this 3.1 inch deep set hung on the wall. It features 'clear voice' technology to monitor speech and compare it to background noise so that you can always hear dialogue clearly, but lacks the intelligent monitoring of light levels and adjustment of setting that the above Pioneer set has, and also has fewer AV settings overall - just three for cinema, sports and gaming. For connectivity it has LG's SimpLink, alongside USB2.0 ports.
