How To Look Young Without Plastic Surgery
Dr Eric Berger is founder and director of Berger Medical Aesthetics and he specializes in keeping faces looking young without plastic surgery.
Here, he shares with us his top 10 tips for healthy skin:1. Eat a well balanced diet- a diet that is rich in minerals, vitamins, and proteins can help maintain healthy, vibrant looking skin.
2. Drink plenty of water- water helps to purify your body and it leaves your skin with a healthier glow. Eight glasses of water a day is recommended to help keep your skin supple and maintain its elasticity. It's easier than it sounds. Drink one full glass before breakfast, one each at mid morning, lunch, mid afternoon and after work, one with dinner and one at bedtime. Your heart, lungs, kidneys, brain and skin will all thank you.
3. Wash your face every morning and night before bed, with a gentle cleanser formulated for your skin type. It doesn’t have to be an expensive cleanser. A great soap to use is Dove Sensitive Skin. While you sleep, your skin rejuvenates so cleansing before bed time to get rid of dirt and oil buildup, fully allows healthy skin to develop.
4. Use plenty of sunscreen - SPF 30-45 is recommended. Sun damage is the primary cause of wrinkles, blotches, dryness and, last but certainly not least, skin cancer.
5. Moisturize you r skin twice a day - if you scratch the surface of your skin and you see a white mark, this means your skin needs to be moisturized and exfoliated. Remember to choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type.
6. Treat yourself to a professional exfoliation at least every two months. Removing dead skin cells which accumulate on the surface allows new, healthy skin to replace the exfoliated cells and allows your skin to breathe.
7. Try and avoid unnecessary stress - stress can make your skin look more dull and can be one of the main causes of breakouts. Taking two grams of Vitamin C a day is a good way to correct some of the stress related skin problems.
8. Exercise helps to increase skin tone and maintain elasticity from an increase of blood flow.
9. Take a multi-vitamin daily, with Vitamin D and Calcium for strong bones and a more vibrant complexion.
10. Avoid smoking and exposure to second hand smoke. Smoke alters the amount of oxygen in your blood which negatively effects the health of your skin and practically every other organ in the body.
Acupuncture To Prevent Aging
Kristen Burris, L.Ac., M.S.T.O.M. has been featured in Natural Health Magazine, National Public Radio, KUSI TV News. She is considered a national expert in women's heath including: anti-aging, infertility, menstrual problems and menopause. She treats patients with natural medicine including: nutrition, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Ms Burris is the founder and medical director of American Acupuncture Center in Eagle, Idaho a family-owned natural health medical practice.
Here, she shares with us how acupuncture can slow down the aging process:
Most of us perceive aging as a Beast: ugly, invasive and haunting. Wrinkles, sagging skin and brown liver spots inhibiting your true beauty? Have you been afraid to go under the knife for fear of a disastrous, irreversible, new you? Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments can reverse aging, minimize the appearance of wrinkles and strengthens muscles to improve tone and lift sagging skin. Hollywood has taken hold and many celebrities are embracing the natural, youthful solution for anti-aging.
Treatments include: acupuncture, electrical stimulation, personalized herbal medicine and Vitamin C anti-aging serum applied topically to your skin. The treatment is deeply relaxing and costs between $135 - $200 per session.
Why is this method of anti-aging treatment so effective? Acupuncture facilitates blood circulation, builds collagen and strengthens muscles all of which are essential for reversing the signs of aging. The results can be so dramatic that one of my patients stopped hiding in her home because of her premature aging. Prior to Cosmetic Acupuncture people kept asking her if her husband was her nephew! She was desperate to feel better and look younger. Within three Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments the results were life changing. She looks years younger, her depression has lifted and people are noticing the youthful changes in her face and her skin on her arms, legs and chest.
The secret is simple: acupuncture treats the root of the aging problem that manifests internally in the body and reflects externally in the skin. Every patient’s treatment is individualized based on their specific pattern causing premature aging. One woman’s excessive wrinkles could be from blood deficiency that doesn’t show up on lab reports robbing her skin of vitality and nourishment. For the patient above her problem was internal dryness. Her case was so severe it was drying her skin, causing deep cracks resulting in prematurely aging her entire body and constipation. Part of the treatment protocol included nourishing fluids internally to properly hydrate her, resulting in plumped skin, less wrinkles and smoother skin. The nourishment also healed her internally as well absolved her depression and regulated her digestion after 40 years of chronic constipation.
Aging is inevitable. Doing it gracefully is possible. The beast can be tamed to allow your inner beauty to shine.
