Back Acne Treatment

Some folks call it "bacne", but if you have back acne – you'll likely find less humor in that clichéd phrase than most people.  If you're searching for a back acne treatment, chances are that you already know how painful and embarrassing it can be to have acne on your back (or anywhere for that matter).  Back acne, just like acne on the face or other parts of the body, is caused by over-activity in the sebaceous (oil) glands of the body. Back acne can be especially irritating for those who have to sit all day because putting pressure on the back (against a chair) can irritate your acne even more.  Back acne can also be caused by hormonal activity, stress, bacteria in the pores of the skin, accumulated dead skin cells that block pores, chronic drug use, and exposure to certain chemicals.  No matter what caused your back acne, it is like that you're looking for a back acne treatment to get rid of it fast!

No Fast Cure

Unfortunately, there is no "fast" cure for acne of any type, and no back acne treatment is going to work overnight.  In fact, some cases of acne may last for years.  Beginning treatment as soon as possible after your first acne flare up is very important. Let's look at the most common acne treatment options.

Back Acne Treatment Option #1: Topical Antibiotic Ointments

Topical antibiotics as a back acne treatment come in cream, gel, or lotion form and are applied directly to the area that is affected. In topical formulations, back acne treatments of topical antibiotics deliver medicine more readily to the area being treated so that it is absorbed faster.

Back Acne Treatment Option #2: Oral Antibiotics

A course of oral antibiotic medication may be prescribed by the doctor or dermatologist.  For cases of prolonged problems with back acne, oral antibiotic medications may be switched out among different antibiotic types so that the patient does not become resistant to antibiotics.

Back Acne Treatment Option #3: Benzoyl Peroxide

Traditionally, back acne treatments usually involve benzoyl peroxide products, either in prescription strength or in over the counter remedies.  Benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria that cause acne, so it is most often used alongside other treatment options.

Back Acne Treatment Option #4: Surgery for Acne

A type of acne "surgery" can be performed for particularly harsh cases of back acne, and is usually reserved as a back acne treatment option of last resort. Surgical incision of acne cysts on the sufferers back can allow these cysts to be drained so that the healing process can begin.
