Bargain Websites

Everyone loves a bargain. I don't care who you are, rich, poor or in between, it always feels great to buy something that you want for less then most people pay for it. Online shopping has really opened up the possibilities for bargain hunters the world over and there are loads of great websites out there that can help you to get the best bargains around no matter what it is that you want to buy. So whether you want to treat yourself to something nice, or if you are looking for a gift bargain to buy for someone else, you should find this list of the best bargain websites useful to make sure that you are paying the lowest possible price. Each site has a bit of information for you, and I think I've included all of the best ones, but if you know of any other good bargain websites which I've missed from my list then there is a comments box at the bottom, so please feel free to use this to let people know about sites which you rate as being amongst the best.

Comparison Shopping Websites

One of the best ways to make sure that you are getting a good price on your purchases is to use a comparison shopping site which will compare all of the major retailers for your chosen item so that you can pick out the one that is cheapest. Of course none of these website can search every single retailer out there, and they don't always include all of the available special offers, coupons and vouchers and so on, but they are still pretty good and if you know what you want they are definitely the easiest way to bag a bargain.

Shopping.com has one of the widest range of products and one of the largest selections of merchants, and so this is a good place to start and the other big players are shopzilla and pricegrabber.

There are also a wide range of more specific comparison shopping websites that often have a more comprehensive list, but are restricted to a specific kind of product or cover a smaller geographic are, such as this UK mobile phone comparison website.

Froogle Google

Although it's not actually specifically geared towards bargain shopping, googles product search engine is a useful tool which is underused. Basically it's google's regular search engine, but it only searches shopping websites rather than the whole internet. You can find it at http://www.google.com/products.

Social Bookmarking for Bargains

Another great tool for online bargain shopping is to use a social bookmarking website where you can sign up for a free account and then, alongside other users, you can join in with submitting, voting and commenting on, and of course finding links to the best shopping bargains around, as well as using the social networking feautures to make friends with and follow the finds of other bargain hunters. Although you can use the site search facility to look for bargains on a specific item, these sites are really for people who just want to browse through the bet discounts, special offers and bargain items as voted for by other people. For US shoppers take a look at Bargains BookmarkedBy.Us, or Share A Bargain does the same thing for the UK

Online Shopping Coupons

Just like those little vouchers that you can collect in books or cut out from magazines or off the back of boxes, online shopping has its own coupons and discount codes that you can use to get money off from the storess which issue them. There are a number of sites out there which collect together all of these vouchers and coupons in one place for you to search through, and these make up my final category of bargain websites. Take a look at the Online Coupons Directory for the latest disount coupons on a wide range of items, or there is also My Voucher Codes who offer the same service specifically for UK based shoppers

Buy from Other People!

Of course if you don't mind buying second hand and you are willing to have some leeway on what you are buying rather than going for a specific brand and specification that you already have in mind in advance, then the best way to get a really good bargain is to buy from other people rather than from companies. Often people just want to get rid of things as much as they want to make a god price for them, and of course you automically pay less because of the fact that you are buying second hand. The chances are you've already used ebay.com, but it might also be worth you're while having a search of classified websites such as craigslist.org which is particularly good for the US and Canada, but which also covers a wide range of cities across the world, or the UK's gumtree.co.uk.

Thank your for sharing this, as many of us (especially in the U.K.) will find this very useful. I always use to think that saving money always ended at Ebay, but learned that it wasn't the case, because if this were true, everyone on-line would just go shopping there and nowhere else! Thanks!

I also use www.peekoo.co.uk for financial comparison, some great deals on there for credit cards, personal loans and debt management
