Best Charlotte NC Lasik Surgery and Surgeons
65Lasik Surgery in Charlotte NC
Lasik surgery is a procedure that you should not undergo lightly. I had my Lasik surgery in Charlotte NC approximately two years ago and while it was much simpler than I expected and turned out to be one of the best things I have ever done, it is also a bit of a scary procedure. If you aren't familiar with it then please keep reading.
Lasik surgery has several incarnations and am only going to speak in general terms as I understand them to be, I am certainly no doctor and don't claim to be but I can share my own experience. Traditional Lasik surgery aka laser surgery involves basically cutting a flap in the outer layer of your eyeball called the cornia. My own doctor did that with a special machine that sliced a thin flap with a razor. This sounds like something horrible but I can honestly say that I didn't even feel it. It was completely painless....very scary...but completely painless.
Once the flap is cut, they fold it back which gives them access to your eye. Here they use a laser to basically reshape the curvature of your eye. The process was quite intimidating as you might agree, but reality proved to be no big deal. The laser locks onto a point on your eye and then goes to work reshaping and revitalizing your vision. My eyes took about 60-70 seconds each for the laser to completely reform my eye.
Once the laser is done with it's work, the flap will be folded back into place and drops placed in your eyes to help the flap heal quickly and cleanly. Everyone responds differently to Lasik than others, but most report reasonably good vision within 24 hours of surgery and very good vision with little to no pain within 48 hours. My own eyes were extremely sensitive to light the day after the surgery but they were fine the next day and I've never looked back.
I can honestly say that getting Lasik surgery is one of the best health related decisions I have ever made and I don't regret it one bit.
It looks Worse than It Is
Charlotte Lasik Surgery
When you are searching for the right doctor, it would behoove you to do the research and find the right doctor. This is a sensitive procedure as it is and you don't want to be going to a hack that is learning on your eyeballs. Fortunately if you are looking for Charlotte Lasik Surgery then you have a number of options and availabilty. It's no surprise that getting Lasik Surgery in Charlotte would be fairly easy as it is a major city and these tend to have a lot of options.
Options are great, but it's also easy to hide in a wide array of choices when you are a poor Lasik surgeon. I would suggest that you seek out a personal reference for your own lasik surgeon and find someone that has actually used that Lasik Surgery Center. In smaller towns you typically have fewer options, but word of mouth quickly tells you whether a doctor is competent or not.
The cost of lasik surgery can vary dramatically but in Lasik surgery in Charlotte when I had my own lasik surgery, it cost me about $1100 dollars per eye. All doctors are different and of course the cost of your lasik surgery in another city would vary but from talking to other people who have Lasik surgery in Charlotte, 2k to 3k dollars is about average.
Lasik Surgeons in Charlotte
My own doctor no longer practices surgery as he has retired but again if you are looking for a lasik surgeon in Charlotte then I would strongly encourage you to ask around. This procedure has become so much more common than it used to and it won't take long to find a number of people who have Lasik surgery in Charlotte.
If you cannot find someone to give you a reference, ask your doctors for some or start googling your doctors name or his practice. Typically if there have been any issues with that particular doctor you will find something mentioned on Google somewhere. Be careful of the sites that list surgeons in your area, the doctors pay to be listed in these guides and they are NOT an endorsement or any sign of quality whatsoever so be cautious.
Lasik surgery in Charlotte should not be difficult to come across. Do your research, find the right doctor, check him or her out carefully and then schedule your appointment. It was the best choice I ever made.
