Although many of the retailers listed here (and the other which didn't make it) do create some quite nice unique baskets and novelty containers for their products, which can add a lot of value to the gift - especially AA Gift Baskets who have some really good ones, like the wooden boat I mentioned earlier - they are generally just meant as extra little flourishes on top of the main thing, which is the actual contents themselves.

But you can also get some really beautiful wooden baskets which would make a great gift on their own, and also give you the opportunity to have complete control over what goes into them. 'Design It Yourself', the company featured above, do have a wide range of choice and are particularly good if you don't want to spend ages traipsing around the shop of scouring the internet to buy things individually, because you can you can get everything from the same place and have it all put together and packaged nicely and delivered for you, but it obviously doesn't give you complete control over what goes in. To make a totally personalized gift tailored to perfectly suit the person that you are buying for it is a really nice idea to buy a nice basket and then fill it up with a few little bits and pieces of your own choosing. I found one company online who make some beautiful hand carved red oak folding baskets, lke the one in the picture to the right of this text. There are several designs, including stuff like heart shapes and christmas tree as as well as regular oval, pentagonal and other shapes. Each one collapses down so that it is flat, so you can use them as chopping boards or something like that as well as ornamental baskets.
