Best New Books to Read this Summer
53Summer reading
I love reading. if you must know, yes I was "that kid" who read every book onthe summer reading list. Sometimes I can forget that there is anything else going on when I am in the middle of a good book. I am happy that you asked this question about books since I just stumbled upon a great website that has helped me find a ton of books.
I am not they kind of person who browses through the best seller lists for a hit, I typically just ask around and see who can suggest something. My friend sent me a link to a site that does virtually the same thing. It is called shelfari and it lets you list out books that you have read, would like to read or have any interest in and lets people give you tips and pointers. You can link to your friends "shelves" and get ideas based on what they are reading or what they have read. If you don't want to spend money on a book, you can see what other people are readying and go to your local liabrary. My link to my shelfari shelf is here:

Another way to stay on top of what books are new or coming out is to sign up with a bookstore. You can go to a local store or a big one, like a Barnes & Noble. At the B&N site you can actually select authors that you are interested in and get updates when they have new materials out. You can also request to be kept up to date on bestsellers and you can even purchase them on line.
The easy route is to join a book of the month club. This enables you to receive new books every month. You don't have to think about anything, but the books are not necessarily tailored to your specific interests. The book clubs tend to send out books that are new, so there is very little chance that it is something that you have already read.
Good luck and happy reading!!!

What makes a good book-club selection? Most of Lynn Neary's picks are quick reads. All are fiction. And, because some of the best conversations occur when people don't agree, a few are calculated to spark debate. So have a glass of wine, maybe a bite to eat, and let the discussions begin.
