Having a part-time job as a teen can be a whole lot more than doing a meaningless job for extra money. If you plan it right, it can be an experience that can benefit to you for the rest of your life. I want to offer you a few ideas on where to start your search:

1) Consider small businesses first.

Not only is the atmosphere usually a lot nicer, but you'll learn more. Pay attention to how the entire business operates and treat it like a paid mentoring program. Hopefully you and the owner can be on good enough terms that you can talk to them and get life advice. Even if you never go into that industry as an adult, it will give you an education that's usually not taught in formal school settings.

2) Find something related to what you want to do as a future career.

Even if you can't have your dream job as a teen, you can still find some positions that get you closer to your goal. This can be helpful in learning a field and helping you transition into it after high school or college graduation.

3) Consider self-employment and businesses.

I used to think I was odd in becoming a business owner at 19, but I have been really impressed lately by the growing number of teens who know how to make money from the Internet. The world of employment is changing. What worked for our grandparents honestly isn't working so great today. If you can adapt and stay on the leading edge of trends, there is a lot of opportunity out there for our generation. Just be sure to run things by your parents first, especially if you are under 18.

I hope these tips have been helpful to you. Best wishes to you, and I hope you find exactly what you want!
