Are you a dog lover, but having trouble because you need a soft dog crate or a portable dog crate? Then this page will be perfect for you. We are going to look at a few types of dog crates, look at some specific models, compare them, and help you to find the perfect model for your family and your dog. Whether you need a dog crate for travel, to take care of your puppy while he is at home, or for other forms of transportation, this page will help you find what you are looking for.

Why would you need a dog crate? You want them for transporting your animal around, and sometimes you need them for putting your dog under airplanes. There are tons of varieties of dog crates, so getting the right one is important and is a key to having a good experience with the transportation of your dog.

Types of Dog Crates

The two types we are going to talk about are portable dog crates and soft dog crates. These two types are both good for traveling, and in fact, you might even classify soft dog crates as a atype of portable crates. The reason why is that soft dog crates, because they are soft, are easily collapsible and you can easily convert the crate from being full size to being smaller.

Cost

For soft sided dog crates, the price is generally not expensive. For heavy duty travel crates, you might have to spend a couple hundred to make sure that the dog is safe inside, cannot escape, and is protected from moving luggage. However, with soft dog crates, you don't have to worry about metal---they are soft and easily transportable. However, i definitely do not recommend you put this type of crate under a plane---your dog probably won't make it out alive!

For a collapsible portable crate, however, here is a great deal from amazon---for only about 20 bucks, a collapsible metal cage. This will keep your dog safe and protected, but it is foldable for a portable feel! Not too big of a space footprint, but it still looks great. It is steel though, so it is certainly a bit heavier than other varieties of dog crates.

If you definitely want a soft crate, this one from Amazon is a bit more pricey, but it looks great and fits anywhere. You don't have to worry about taking a soft dog crate indoors because it won't hurt any walls. This crate is stable, able to fold, and a great look. In my opinion, this type of crate is my favorite, and the only type I would use for my dogs. Of course, soft crates do not give much protection, certainly not as much as a metal dog crate. For this reason, if you are considering serious transportation (over long distances, or with a plane), you definitely want to look into a steel dog cage.

To find out more about dog crate products, you should look around online and at your local pet store. Honestly, it's probably well worth your time to see any product in person first. Make sure your dog will fit in it and have plenty of room to move about, drink water, and eat food. You don't want to endanger your dogs health while transporting him!
