Salsa

Who doesn't love some good salsa? Getting ready to watch a big show, event or game? Whip up some of this really easy salsa and open a bag of your favorite tortilla chips. You will find yourself wanting to lick the salsa bowl clean. It is delicious.

This salsa is also great on enchiladas, burritos, or anything else you can imagine.  It is so good, sometimes I just eat it plain.  Not kidding here, this stuff is insanely good.  Plus, it is easy to make.

Ingredients

 First, get the following ingredients:

  1. 1 can diced tomatoes (26oz).  Note:  don't use fresh tomatoes, I did this once and the salsa tastes fine but it is a really weird color.
  2. 1/2 medium onion  (white or yellow)
  3. 1/2 tbls diced can green chilies
  4. 2 fresh jalapeno
  5. 1 tsp salt
  6. 1/2 bunch fresh cilantro

That's is all you need.  Now to mix it up.

Throw everything in a really good blender.  It is best if you chop the onion and the jalapeno before putting them in a blender.  If you like really hot, leave the jalapeno seeds in.  If you don't like hot, scrape the jalapeno seeds out and it will leave you with a really mild salsa.  Blend the ingredients until you have a thick sauce.  Pour this in a bowl and dig in.

This is an incredibly simple, delicious salsa.  Give it a try and let me know what you think.  It is my family's favorite.

Now Get Mixing

So you are getting ready to watch the big collage footbal game of the week.  Or maybe you are about to watch two or three games in a row.  It is Saturday afternoon and you have Tostitios all ready in the bowl.  Your beverage of choice is poured.  Do you really want to dip your chips in that garbage that the local grocery store sells?  No way.  Now that you know how to make some of this delicious salsa, mix yourself up some.  Make a double batch.  That way you may have some left for the big NFL game tomorrow.  Most of all, enjoy the salsa--and the game.  And don't let anyone catch you licking the salsa bowl when it is all gone.  Do it, just don't get caught.

What do you put salsa on?

  • Tortilla chips
  • Corn chips
  • Mexican food
  • Everything

I love salsa thanks for the easy recipe. I am especially glad it has cilantro. It is one of my favorites too. I have made guacamole but, never tried my own salsa.

jim10--thanks for the comment. I heard from a friend today that he tried this with an avocado chunked up into it after--sounds really good. I may try that next time I make it.

thanks for becoming a fan, i've tried your salsa and find it's really good. i much prefer to get my veggies in via munchies than trying to sit down to an overwhelming "traditional" meal - this is right up my alley. keep 'um coming...
