Hub request: I am planning to go to Leh in June. Please suggest a good itinerary or any good tour operator service?

Best Season and climate to Visit Ladakh

Planning to visit Ladakh and confused? Don't worry, just go through the following paragraph and learn about things such as "when to visit" Leh, Ladakh.

Unlike other regions in the Himalaya mountains, Ladakh has 9 months of winter and 3 months of summer, so best time to visit Leh Ladakh is in the summer and that is from June to September.

After that period, temperature plunges to sub Arctic level and this region becomes too cold for comfort.

By early October, all the trekking paths in higher altitudes are closed because of heavy snowfall.

One more reason for visiting Leh Ladakh in the summer month is that, this is the right time when some Ladakh's important Buddhist monasteries or Gompas host their annual festivals which are spectacular.

June July is also the best time because later on the ice melts.

I would suggest you go on you own with friends or fellow bikers, as going through tour operators is just like spoon feeding, no fun.

Even I did it with some fellow riders and we all were doing it for the first time and trust me, you do not need to worry, but it is your own wish and it also depends that how and with whom you are going.

If you are going with your family with women also, then it is safe to go for a tour operator service. There are also daily flights which go from New Delhi to Leh. Read below.

Hotel Options in Leh

My travel agent when I got there with my family gave me following options in Leh - Hotel Auspicious, Hotel Lumbini, and Hotel Kaal.

In Leh, you will find several options depending on your budget. You can also visit, http://www.duniyagolhai.com/

If you are at Keylong , Hotel Chandra Bhaga is the best, as it is owned by the Himachal Pradesh government and has an awesome location and decent staff.

If you need more information, please do let me know through comment and I will be glad to help you out.

Two different routes to visit Leh Ladakh

I guess you already know that there are two ways of reaching Leh from Delhi:

One is through Manali>Rohtang>Changla>Upshi and Leh. Other is through Srinagar>Kargil>Leh. Both these routes have their own advantages and both the routes will not disappoint you. The climax is Leh and once you reach there, you can go north to Kardungla and Nubra, South to Upshi, East to Moriri And Pangong and west until Lamayuru.

The best would be to travel from Delhi to Leh via Manali and then reach Delhi back via Srinagar so that you do not miss out anything. You can follow the map in reverse as well. I suggest stay in Leh city and make it as your base camp. The trip completely depends upon how much time you take to cover each place. Be assured you will not home sick or bored. In fact when you are about to leave from Leh, you feel sick of home.

Do remember to carry AMS drugs and junk foods for consumption at remote places. If you want details about places to stay, cabs to hire, places to eat and bikes to hire, you can search google for contacts for service providers.

If you are a photography fan, this place is your heaven. Trust me, your index finger will be itching always and if you use an SLR, you will be seeing the places more through your camera view finder than naked eyes. Also, remember to carry extra batteries for your video cameras.

A really impressive hub soni. You have answered the question in a perfect manner, you have even covered hotel options, flight details, and routes to visit Ladakh but can you tell me something about less traveled routes in Ladakh. I am an adventurous person and having fun at less traveled routes in my hobby. I love visiting new places and meeting new people. I have asked a question about the same in the hub request section. I hope you will answer the question.
