The Five Best Vintage Clothing Websites

If you're anything like me, you prefer retro fashion to what's popular today. Pedal pushers and vintage halter tops are much more appealing. Luckily, you won't need a time-travelling DeLorean in order to get a hold of some of that fashion. There are websites all over the internet that provide vintage or retro-inspired clothing. Some are better than others, though. These are the five best vintage clothing websites at which to spend your money, in no particular order.

ModCloth.com

Mod Cloth has a wide range of clothing inspired by old vintage fashions. Their merchandise spans many decades, although they focus mostly on the "mod" sixties era, hence the name. They carry women's clothing, accessories, and shoes. They also have interesting retro home goods, such as clocks and ashtrays.

Some of Mod Cloth's prices are reasonable and cheap, while others are not. For example, you could get the Herringbone Sailor Pants for $49.99, while the Drive-In Dress is $110.99 on sale. This website sells items from many different clothing brands, which is the main reason for the wide range in prices.

ShopPlasticLand.com

Although Plastic Land has cheaper prices than other similar websites, their vintage-inspired clothing comes in limited quantities. Still, you can find a wide range of cute products such as home décor, handbags, jewelry, outerwear, clothing, shoes, and intimates. They carry sizes up to XXL for some of their products.

A very cute frilly top is the Black Satin Antoinette Top. You can order this for $54.00. If you like adorable retro-style shoes, the Ducks in a Row Flats are great, and they only cost $22.00.

PopinaSwimwear.com

While vintage dresses are great, it's best not to forget about vintage bathing suits. The fifties were a time when less was more. Less skin showing was seen as sexy, unlike today with the micro bathing suits. Until now, vintage-inspired bathing suits were hard to find. Fortunately, Popina has come out with a great line of bathing suits inspired by these decades. They have one pieces suits, bikinis, and tankinis. They all come at a reasonable price and go up to size XL or 16 in women's US sizes.

My favorite in Popina's current line of bathing suits is the Retro Halter - Orange Genie. This beautifully colored halter bathing suit comes at a sale price of $45.00. If you'd rather have a two-piece retro bathing suit, the Mabel Aqua Bubble Tankini Top is perfect at $35.00 on sale.

RustyZipper.com

Most of these websites only carry clothing that is inspired by vintage clothing. While this is fine, sometimes you just want the real thing. Rusty Zipper carries authentic vintage clothing from a wide range of eras, from the 20s to the 80s. There are also a wide range of styles in both men and women's clothing.

Since Rusty Zipper carries authentic vintage clothing, each piece has only one size. In this way, it can be a bit difficult to find what you want. They offer a search engine that lets you weed everything out by size. This can help a lot for finding what you need.

DaddyOs.com

This is my favorite of all retro clothing websites. They specialize in the 1950s and carry clothing and accessories for both men and women. They have on-going sales that can save you money on this already low-priced clothing. They call their website "Where the Coolest Get Their Coolness", and that is certainly true.

There is a lot that I like about Daddy O's. Chiefly, they carry sizes up to XXXL for most of their clothing. They also have great prices on items that I have been looking for for years. Their Crinoline Petticoat is only $39.95. They also have Saddle Shoes, which are a must for any 1950s lady's fashion. They sell these for $59.95.

As you can see, there is still a chance for you to wear those great fashions from decades passed.
