If your main goal at the moment is to build muscle, of particular concern to you should be ways you can work towards increasing your testosterone naturally.

Testosterone is the primary anabolic hormone in the body, and what will be responsible for you getting the most results from your weight lifting session.

In order to build muscle, three factors must be present.

First, you need to create an overloading stimulus on the body, essentially telling it that it needs to get stronger.

Second, you need to provide extra calories in order for this growth process to take place.

If these calories are not being provided, you aren't going to create new muscle tissue.

Finally, you need to create an environment that is most conducive to increasing muscle mass, therefore allowing you to see the best results from your training program.

That said, today, we're focused on point three.

Namely, what can you do to increase the testosterone hormones in the body, thus allowing you to get better results from your weight lifting program.

Here's what you need to do.

Decrease the Total Rest Time Between Sets

One simple and effective way to increase your testosterone levels is to simply increase the total rest time you're using between your sets.

While you do still want to recover, shortening this time frame will help create a surge in insulin levels, enhancing muscle growth.

Aim to take rest periods between forty-five and sixty seconds.

Lift Heavier

Heavy lifting in itself naturally tends to stimulate the release of testosterone in the body, so this is another thing you need to be sure you're doing.

This may seem to counteract the last point about taking shorter rest breaks, but the key is to finding the proper balance.

You want enough rest so you can optimize your weight lifted still, but not so long that your body has a chance to ‘get cold', so to speak.

Increase The Saturated Fat In Your Diet

Another thing you can do to increase the testosterone levels you're seeing in your body is to increase your saturated fat content slightly.

While you don't want to be getting all of your fat intake from saturate fat - obviously since there are big health repercussions to this as well, you do want to make sure you don't cut it out completely.

Saturated fat, in limited quantities, will help keep testosterone levels higher, so be sure you are getting some in.

Get Enough Rest

Finally, the last thing you need to be sure you're doing is getting enough rest each day.

Overtraining is the quickest way to see testosterone levels plummet, so it's something you really need to safeguard against.

Aim to not only get seven to eight hours of sleep each night, but also reduce overall stress levels each day so you don't let stress start to overpower your recovery abilities.
