Best flowers for a full sun spot in the garden
67Gardens can be difficult. Full sun, part sun, shade... but what types of flowers are best for these areas.
Experimentation can be costly; don't plant something if you don't know whether or not they will work. The last thing you want to be doing is preventing the inevitable.

The Poppy comes in every color under the sun and are very tolerant to dry conditions. Try not to over water.
They grow to a height of about 12-24 inches.
These flowers are pretty resistant to pest and disease.
Some types of Poppy are used in the production of morphine and codeine.

It prefers dry, poor soil and blooms in the summer. Zones 5-9.

These bloom in late spring and reach about 24 inches high and 18 inches wide.

The Money Plant can be planted in either full sun or partial sun. It will bloom in the summer and prefers well drained soil.
It produces small fragrant purple flowers which are then followed by round seed pods that have a papery, satiny covering. The seed pods start out green and eventually will turn silvery.
This plant will reach about 30 inches high and about 18 inches wide. Oftentimes, they will get much tallen than expected.
They are very easy to grow and the seed pods make for a great accent in some bouquets.
Zones 4-8.

It has very fragrant flowers that attracts butterflies. Fading blooms need to be removed to prolong the blooming season.
This plant needs to be pruned hard in early spring as it only grows on new wood.

The flowers are very frangrant and can be planted in full sun to partial sun. They are hardy in zones 4-11.

There is also no need to fertilize this flower.

It blooms in the summer, mainly June and sometimes again in September and prefers well-drained soil.
It will grow to about 6 feet high and 24 inches wide. Zones 3-7.
Because of the height of this plant, it may be necessary to stake as the weight at the top may be too much for the base.
Gay Feather
This plant is quite original. It has tall spikes of feather like flowers that are white. It will reach a height of about 3 feet.
Salvia
This plant has a low green base with shoots of very small flowers that come in various shades of blue and purple. They don't exactly appear as though they are a flower, but can add some color. It reaches a height of about 3 feet. (Do not confuse this with the "drug" that is from Mexico.)
All the above mentioned are perennial, they will grow back bigger and better every year. Don't forget that water is still necessary for you plant to prosper. If you ever notice wilting, please give your flowers something to drink.
I personally have all these flowers and more in my back yard that is full sun all year long and they do very well. Don't be afraid to do some research online to find out exactly how this plants will do in the soil you have.
