Best food dehydrator
69Best food dehydrator - which type of dehydrator?
Food Dehydrators are available in different shapes and sizes with many optional features. Price wise they range from around $50 up to $200 or more. There are two main types of home dehydrators:
- Forced-air dehydrators which have a fan or blower to move the warm air over the food - Dehydrator models with a fan require a little more electricity to run but will dry food faster and require less attention.
- Natural-draft dehydrators which have no fan, instead relying on the natural movement of warm air for drying. Natural-draft units use less energy as there is no fan to power, however they require careful watching and moving of trays so are more labor intensive than fan models.
Food Dehydration as a method of preservation has been neglected until recently, but is now making a culinary comeback and for severalgood reasons. A home dehydrator is one of the most useful kitchen appliances and provides opportunities for a whole new range of exciting new tastes and textures.
