Natural hair oil

What I am about to disclose to you that I tried myself about the best hair conditioner is disgusting but true. I will not promise that it will work for everyone but it did for me.

Last year I was getting so annoyed with my hair, it was so dry and brittle and I tried so many products to condition it to make it soft and smooth but didn't work, my hair was so dry that it wouldn't even grow past a certain length, I even tried trimming it like people say that helps with the split ends and will help your hair grow longer, that didn't even work for me, I started thinking that it was just hopeless.

So I got to thinking about what my Aunt told me years ago that I would never try because it was too disgusting, but her hair and all of her elders all had beautiful thick hair at the age of 60 and over.

I would not dare try this not only because it was disgusting but when you have to go to work every day it's not a good idea to try this especially when you are around people.

So about 7 months ago I quit my job to venture into something new, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to fix my hair problem because I would have limited contact with people. So here it is, my experiment...

I decided not to wash my hair until I could see my natural oils build up on my hair. Please don't get me wrong, I showered and bathed, I just didn't wash my hair, I would just rinse it with water to make it wet and then brushed it out, no soap or shampoo.

Well, I was so dried up that it took nearly a month for any natural oils to be visible on my hair. Once I saw the oil, I washed my hair, and boy did that feel good. So I did it again, I didn't wash my hair until I saw the oil again, and I kept repeating this until it was less frequent between washes. Now I can't go past three days before I see the oil.

I'll tell you what, my hair no longer has split ends, it is now soft and silky looking, and best of all in the past seven months my hair grew from my shoulder blades to now the length is to my waist. That's incredable! I couldn't grow my hair that long for years!

So I am happy that I tried my Aunt's and her ancesters remedy of natural hair oil, it worked for them and now for me too. A natural conditioner!

It's disgusting, but true, for me anyways.

This is a perfectly valid method of getting your hair to grow. Most people don't realise that hair is actually self-cleaning, and the natural oils it produces are nourishing the follicle - hence why you saw the accelerated hair growth. I've known people go for months at a time without washing their hair; once it gets past the initial greasy stage it looks soft, silky and in great condition. his is why people who wear dreadlocks can get away with not washing their hair!

Hello RavynSteel, why yes, my hair grew so fast and so healthy! I was wondering why that is, and why everyone is washing there hair everyday if this is a better solution? But thankyou, now I know it's because it nourishes the folical, with all of the scientific experiments out there you would think that they would inform the public better about hair washing and what is best, because all I know is my personal experiment, I still wouldn't know if there would be any long term side affects. LOL, my aunt hasn't had any side affects yet and she is in her 60's and have been doing this all her life. Thanks for the comment!

Yellowburgundy, great hub!

It's been so many years, back in those days before synthetic wigs and such. I had heard those who grew their hair long and would sell it to make wigs and hair pieces were not allowed to wash their hair with any shanpoo ... just brush it each day.

Whether that is fact of fallacy, I cannot say, however, it does make sense now after your hub.
