You could not talk about the best of reggae music without talking about the four main genre of Reggae Music. So you can not talk about the best of Reggae music with out including theses main areas of reggae. Roots reggae is the name given to a spiritual type of music whose lyrics are predominantly in praise of Jah (God). The Best Of Reggae music was develop through this form of Reggae Music and was later developed into other genres. Jamaica is the birth place of Reggae music and as a result some of the top reggae music artist came from jamaica. Reggae music is based on a recurrent lyrical themes include poverty and resistance to government oppression. Many of Bob Marley's and Peter Tosh's songs can be called roots reggae. The creative pinnacle of roots reggae was in the late 1970s, with singers such as Burning Spear, Gregory Isaacs, Freddie McGregor, Johnny Clarke, Horace Andy, Ijahman Levi, Barrington Levy, Big Youth, and Linval Thompson, and bands like Culture, Israel Vibration, and Misty in Roots, teaming up with various studio producers including Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Coxsone Dodd.

The Best of Roots Rock Reggae came out of the rastafrian movement. and One of the most Famous Roots Rock Reggae Artist is Bob Marley.

Best of Reggae Dancehall Music:-

The dancehall genre was developed around 1980, with exponents such as Yellowman, Super Cat and Shabba Ranks. The style is characterized by a deejay singing and rapping or toasting over raw and fast rhythms. Ragga (also known as raggamuffin), is a subgenre of dancehall where the instrumentation primarily consists of electronic music and sampling. Notable ragga artists include Shinehead and Buju Banton. The best of Dancehall comes was developed through sound Systems. Some of the most famous reggae artist on the scene now a dancehall reggae artist like sean paul, beenie man, and elephant man just to name a few.

The Best of Dub: Dub Reggae music

The Best of Reggae music would be nothing if you don't include dub music whi is the music create mainly through Sound Systems. How ever the genre of this music was started in the early days by studio producers Lee 'Scratch' Perry and King Tubby. It involves extensive remixing of recorded material, and particular emphasis is placed on the drum and bass line. The techniques used resulted in an even more visceral feel described by King Tubby as sounding "jus’ like a volcano in yuh head." Augustus Pablo and Mikey Dread were two of the early notable proponents of this music style, which continues today.

Dubplate Special

A Dubplate Special, also known as a Dubplate or special, is an exclusive version of a piece of music, usually (re-)recorded by a Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, or Chutney artist for a West Indian or Caribbean Sound System. Although CD is now the preferred format for these recordings, the use of the word "Dubplate" to describe them has survived.

These recordings are often used for competing in a sound clash, in which rival reggae or soca sound systems compete with each other to produce the most imaginative or unusual dubplate specials. The exclusivity of the recording is made evident by changes to the usual lyrics to include the name of the sound system that has commissioned the recording, often remarking on the prowess of the sound system in question, and sometimes the weaknesses of the opposing sound system(s) in a given competition.

Dubplate Specials are an essential tool in a sound clash - the more exclusive the better - but they also form an intrinsic part of the Reggae music industry.

Lovers rock

Lovers rock originated in South London in the mid-1970s, and is produced for a smoother, more commercial sound, with more apolitical lyrics. Lovers rock also has a varity of styles nut always maintain that smooth soultry feel. Its also smiler to what in the 1970 in the united States called Soul music. Its soltry sound makes for a very relaxing sound. Some people say this type of reggae music soft music because of the sooth sounds and the soultry lyrics. Some people call it good reggae music butr what ever you call it. Lovers rock reggae music features some of the most dedicate and longest lasting artist in the industry.

The 2009-2010 REGGAE SUNSPLASH MUSIC FESTIVAL will be celebrating it’s proud legacy with star studded festivals in Florida, and Brazil.

The son of REGGAE SUNSPLASH founder, Tony Johnson and his company, Junction have teamed with BWPresents, Bill Walker, and Morgan Carey, of Digital Riddims Inc. to illuminate the historic brand, most often associated with the timeless performances of pioneers, Bob Marley, Greg Isaacs, Steel Pulse, Stevie Wonder and so many other legendary superstars.

REGGAE SUNSPLASH MUSIC FESTIVALS 2009-2010 will feature chart topping mainstream superstars and be a virtual who’s who in Reggae Music. Some of the interested artists who have been invited include, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, No Doubt, Sly and Robbie, Burning Spear, Willie Nelson, Beres Hammond, Black Uhuru, and Half Pint. The show’s producers, in the interests of honoring the History of Sunsplash, have brought on The Original Wailers who will be jamming with surprise celebrity guests, and backing up headliners as well. The support of a cluster of key stations throughout Florida has already been secured, and record breaking attendance is anticipated.
