The best position to conceive a baby is one where sperm is deposited as near as possible to or in the cervix and gravity works in your favor. Therefore, there are a number of good positions that increase the chances of conceiving. The aim is to help the journey of the sperm as much as possible so it has less distance to travel to the female uterus to fertilise the egg.

The man on top missionary position is probably the best position overall to conceive. The reason for this is simple The sperm flows to the entry of the uterus with the help of gravity. The best way of doing this is to make love with the woman lying on her back but with her knees bent. For even extra help, try putting a small pillow under the woman's hips. Make sure the pillow is small, a larger pillow may mean the semen goes the wrong way.

Rear entry more commonly known as doggie style is another good position to help conception. This position means that lots of semen is deposited directly into the cervix of the female, so the sperm doesn't have as far to travel to fertilise the egg. This is also a the best position for women who have a tipped uterus. If your uterus is retroverted it's good to make love in this position and stay like it for about 5 to 10 minutes afterwards to maximise the chances of getting pregnant.

If you do have sex in the missionary position another tip is for the woman to keep lying down for up to 1/2 hour after making love. This is again to use the force of gravity to help get pregnant.

Some people also swear by putting the woman's legs up to her chest, legs in the air or even bicycling to give an extra boost to the sperm. Not sure if this really does help but it'll probably give you a laugh and can't do much harm!!
