What are the best toys for 2 year old girls?

It's hard to buy great toys for 2 year old girls when your unfamiliar with what they like. I have a 2 year old son and a 2 year old niece who play together with their toys all the time. I did a lot of research before buying them toys and we have tried and tested many of them. This article is based on the toys my niece loves so will hopefully give some ideas and inspiration on the best toys to buy 2 year old girls. Some of the toys she plays with at toddler groups, others at home and some at our house. I have also highlighted the ones my 2 year old loves as well.

Shopping cart

Little Tikes Shopping Cart - Yellow/Red Little Tikes Shopping Cart - Yellow/Red
Little shopping carts make great toys for 2 year old girls. Little toddlers love pushing them around. They can copy Mummy and do the shopping. They make great props for teaching what different foods are called. 2 year old girls will also love pushing teddies or dolls around in this toy. A good use of the shopping cart is tidying up. Get your little one to move around, pick up all the toys and put them in the cart. The Little Tykes shopping cart is a good choice as it's sturdy and easy to push around.

Easel

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Standing Easel Melissa & Doug Deluxe Standing Easel
An easel is a great long term toy for 2 year old girls. My 2 year old has an easel and he loves using chalk and drawing pictures. We also use it for painting and coloring. It's great for me. I put it out in the kitchen to keep my little one occupied while I'm cleaning or cooking. We also take it outside. The Melissa and Doug easel is great as you can adjust it as your child grows which means it will last for a long time.

The easel for two below is magnetic and has a chalk board as well as having two large clips to hold up paper for drawing. It comes with 74 magnetic letters which will be great for helping your 2 year old learn their alphabet. My First Purse

This is a great little pretend set for 2 year old girls. There's a little wallet, a debit card, a play phone, a mirror and pretend car keys so little girls can pretend to be just like Mummy. It's a great set for encouraging imaginative play. My niece hasn't got this toy but when I saw it I had to include it as it looks like she would love it and the reviews on Amazon are good too.

Magna Doodle's are great toys for 2 year old girls. We bought one for our niece for her 2nd birthday and she loves drawing on it. The problem is that many of the adults enjoy drawing on it too so it's a toy that is always in high demand. It's a great toy as it provides all the fun of drawing without any mess. Magna Doodles are also easily portable and make great travel toys.

Magnetic alphabet set

LeapFrog Fridge Phonics Magnetic Alphabet Set LeapFrog Fridge Phonics Magnetic Alphabet Set
2 year olds love fridge magnets. They are a great toy to have in the kitchen to keep a 2 year old girl occupied while a carer is doing other things. These ones are particularly great as you can move the magnetic letters into a reader and it will say the name of the letter. My niece plays for hours with this toy. It's a highly recommended buy. In my opinion one of the best toys for 2 year old girls.

Mr and Mrs Potato Head are great toys for 2 year olds. My son and niece both got one last Christmas and they have loved playing with all the parts and fitting them into Mr Potato Head. It keeps them occupied for quite a while. It's great for teaching them the names of body parts too. It's a classic toy which you can't really go wrong with.

My niece loves to make cups of tea for everybody to drink. 2 year old girls will love this musical tea set. Toy Kitchen

LifeStyle Dream Kitchen LifeStyle Dream Kitchen
My 2 year old niece got a kitchen last Christmas and she absolutely loves it and plays with it nearly every day. When buying a toy kitchen you are making an investment as the toy can be used by children for the next few years. There are endless opportunites for pretend play on their own and with others. The toy kitchen featured makes lots of realistic sounds. The "stainless steel" oven, microwave, stove top and phone all make electronic sounds. There's also a fridge, cupboards, drawers and lots of storage space for the 28-piece dining room and pots and pans set that comes with the kitchen. A kitchen with lots of different draws and accessories is a good choice as they will have lots of fun using the accessories to cook and tidying them up in different draws. The frying pan and boiling pot also make boiling water and frying sounds when they are put on the front burner of the stove. There's also a sink and a granite style counter top.

Another toy kitchen which is cheaper than the one above. It has electronic features in the stovetop and phone. Storage drawers and cabinets with authentic handle hardware keep things organized and add to the upscale look. Features granite-like countertops and "stainless" appliances. There's also a 17-piece accessory set and an electonic phone.
