What are the best toys for a 9 month old baby?
9 month old babies are just starting to move around, possible crawling of shuffling. Therefore some of the best toys for a 9 month old baby are ones that will encourage them to move such as crawl balls.
9 month old babies also love "noisy" toys which use simple language, nursery rhymes and other sounds to start encouraging baby to make noise and work towards saying their first words.
Toys that teach cause and effect are also good. There are lots of toys available for this group where something happens when they press a button or do another action. Activity tables, musical keyboard, baby laptops and other such toys are fascinating for this age group.

Colorfun Ball by Gund
The colorfun ball by Gund is a great ball for 9 month old babies. It's very colorful to attract baby's attention and it makes a chiming sound when it rolls. 9 month old babies will love rolling it, throwing it and just put it out of their reach so they have to think about how to move to get it. It's soft so they will probably love to chew on it as well!

Leapfrog Learn and Groove Activity Table
This is such a great toy as it will be one they are still using until the are at least 2 and 1/2. The leapfrog activity table has lots of different learning activities for your child from a baby to toddler. At 9 months they will learn to press the buttons and listen to over 40 songs while they are learning. At this age the activity centre can just be laid on the floor. The table also has legs which you can put on it and contoured grips which they can use to pull themselves up and help them learn how to stand. At this age their little hands will reach to touch and explore all the things to spin, pull, push, roll, slide, open and close. Highly recommended.

Nest & Stack Buckets
Price: $16.79
List Price: $20.99 |
Nest and Stack Buckets
Sometimes the toys without the flashing lights and noise are the ones which keep 9 month old babies entertained the longest and I think this is very true of this set of nest and stack buckets. They seem so simple but this toy provides so many activities.
Babies of 9 months will develop their motor skills by picking up and handling the cups, knocking them together and knocking down towers (again teaching cause and effect). They are great toys for using in the bath, filling them up with water, letting them sink, pouring the water out etc. There are holes in the bottom of some of these cups so baby will love watching the water come out of the bottom.
As their handling skills get better babies will love nesting the cups and then trying to stack them. It won't be long before they are building their own towers to knock down. My son is now 2 1/2 and he still builds towers with his stacking cups.
They are great for teaching colors. This set also comes with shapes to talk about too. The buckets are also a great toy for taking out and about as you can just nest the cups together and pop them in your bag.
Every baby should have a set of stacking/nesting cups/buckets. Highly recommended.
